Noob from Humbold County, CA Says Hello

Postby Russ in California » Fri Jul 20, 2007 9:00 pm

Hello! :)
Noobie Russ in California checking in. First I'd like to say teardrops are awesome. The local media coverage of Redwood Gathering really got my attention last year. This year the family decided to try and build a teardrop. Like a family together project with something very nice at the end. Looking forward to that.
Anxiously waiting for Redwood Gathering next year. Right in my own back yard(go Dean go!).
I know there's a few members locally I'll have to hook up with.
So, there it is. This is going to be so cool
Thanks,

Welcome aboard Russ!

I attended the gathering last year and it was amazing! I live in the desert so it's about as different as anything could be. I plan on attending next year as well so we'll get the chance to meet.

Dean's a great guy. Maybe he could give you a heads up next time they have a mini-gathering and you could get a preview of IRG 2.0.

I hope you and your family have a great time on your family project!

Joanne

Hey Russ,

Welcome to the forum... are you just down the road from Dean and Kevin?

I don't think they posted on the map... but I believe they are in this area...

Most of the folks from this area are down at Mendocino/Fort Bragg this weekend at Lee's gathering at Point Cabrillo.

Russ,
A Hearty Humboldt Welcome to yaa!
TDN and I will be camping up at Patricks Point this weekend with our graduating high school class... It's gonna be a 50th birthday party since all in the class will be 50 this year. (EHS Class Of '75)
TDN and I will be using Jerome's Kit Clone for a second weekend in a row, having just returned from Lazybones' Mendocino Gathering at Pt. Cabrillo...
If you and your family can make it stop by Saturday afternoon and stay for dinner. It's not a teardrop gathering but Jerome's teardrop will be there and I'll be doing a prime rib and Hawaiian braided bread in dutch ovens for Saturday's potluck.
I could probably use some extra help convincing all my old classmates that they should build or buy a teardrop and get into dutch oven cooking.

That's a different map than the one I registered on, but I'm right underneath that lower 101 sign... Humboldt Hill.

Hey Dean,
Thank's for the invite but I"ll be out of town on a Land Cruiser outing in Oregon. Another time for sure.
Sounds like you're quite handy around a dutch oven. Sounds yummy. I dabble a bit and usually produce barely 'edible' fare so far.
Have a great time this weekend. Like to hook up some time and talk tt.

8) Hi Russ,

Welcome to the board and world of Teardropping. Just give Dean or I a PM if you'd like to find out more about local outings. Looking forward to meeting you and cuz we live in such a small town atmosphere I'm sure we'll find somebody we know in common.
