Another Missouri Newbie

Postby mrchuc » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:38 am

Hi Everyone,

I am totally new to teardrop trailers. A month ago I had never heard the term. Somehow I ran across some info and was hooked. I am not very handy, so I am not looking to build my own, but I am fascinated reading about all the projects on this board!

My wife and I ordered a 4-wide teardrop from Little Guy and expect to take possession at the end of August. My wife has always wanted to travel more, but we have not had the budget to do it. She has family in California and we need a way to make the trip in a comfortable, economical, ecologically friendly way. The little teardrop seems to fit all the requirements.

We bought a very basic model, and even though I am not very handy, I will be looking to make modifications and improvements as we learn what we really need.

I have already learned a whole lot just from reading the posts on this board. Who knows, maybe I will learn enough to actually build something myself.

All the best...

Welcome to the insane...err.. playground. A couple of things to remember about this forum:

We need pictures, it is the only way some of us can get a fix for our addiction Oh did I mention that you will be come addicted also.

We are a fun loving group that does like to pick on each other at times, so please remember to take things in that respect, it is should never be personal

If you have any questions please ask and have fun in the playground.

Take the time to go to a gathering, this is where you will really meet the folks from the forum. There are a lot of folks going the the LCG II(sp?). I think it is highly overated but don't let MadJack hear ya say it since it is his gathering and birthday party

To the playground Chuc. Happy to hear you are getting a teardrop fast. I am making mine so anyone can do it.... It is all about keeping the bubble oil full and level. ;) We do that with :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

We even encourage pictures of the family, the dog, the campground, just about everything is fair game here.

Enjoy

Thanks for all the welcoming messages, folks. You've made me feel right at home. :D

My wife and I can hardly wait to get our teardrop (due August 20). I'll be sure to take some pics of our first adventure with it.

All the best...

Welcome aboard...before a trek to Ca...I'd recommend a quick not too far from home trip, take what you think you need....then sort it all out before dragging it across the country...pick what you want, and dump what you can live without, but most importantly...just have fun!! Make sure you put up some pics when you get it...Doug   Doug

Hi Neal,

Yep, I found the Eureka dealer and that is where we bought the 4-wide.

BTW, I used to live in Union, MO, so I definitely know where Rosebud is. I occasionally ride my scooter out highway 50 toward Jefferson City so look for me on my blue Kymco 250 scootin through Rosebud. :)

Thanks.

Thanks, Doug,

That sounds like good advice. I have pulled a few trailers in my life, but this will be my first experience with a camper. We won't head for CA unitl some time next year. We are planning several overnights and a weekend or two first. Like you say, we have to figure out what works and what we need.

Right now, I am obsessing over whether to buy air conditioning. I ordered the teardrop with the deep cycle battery and fan option. I am hoping that will get us by.

Hello Chuc (no K... OK!) You might discover a whole range of add-ons if you went to a local gathering or campout! Shelves and little gadgets see to be really popular! As well as canopies and privacy rooms! Not sure about AC unless you don't have much natural air flow. Maybe a Fantastic Fan would fill the bill! Anyhoo... all the best! Keep us posted! --Vic

Welcome Chuc
Glad to see another member from MO. You really need to make it to some type of gathering. I built my trailer without ever seeing one. We went to Petit Jean this weekend and now I have a head full of new Ideas.
It has been discussed about some type of event in Mo. We just need to make a plan on were and when.
Again WELCOME and looking foward to seeing you soon.

Chuc - welcome to the forum *and* the world of teardrops! As others have said it's an addiction for sure... I'm sure we'll be having meetings and a 12 Step program pretty soon. 8)

We're in Illinois but own 3 acres south of Lebanon, MO. Will be building a house there next year.

Not sure how far you want to go on a trip but we're putting together a gathering in October in N. Central Illinois. See this post: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=17282 According to Mapquest, it's a 268 mile drive for you (one way).

Welcome to the forum Chuc. Glad to see more Missourians. We're in Rayville 40 miles north east of Kansas City. As Rich said we'll hopfully get a gathering going this fall if not come on down to LCG down in the Southcentral it's a blast and would be a good first long distance run for the Little Guy. We started out in a 4 x 8 like you than built the Winter Warrior. hope to meet up with you soon.
