New one here ready to start

Postby Kim Armstrong » Sun Jul 29, 2007 4:06 pm

I introduced myself last week and was going to Petit Jean gathering. Well I'm back with a design. Looks like I may try building a grumman2. Would like building a cabin car but since this is my first build I wasn't sure if it would be a good one to start with. It's going to be a 5x10 and was wondering if I should us a 5x8 or a 5x10 chassis. It needs to be a HF, Red, etc since I don't have the means to build the frame myself. Any suggestions? Looking forward to the build!

To the play ground Kim. Glad to hear you have a design. A gathering is a good place to get lots of ideas.

Trailer size is up to you. If you have the money get the one that fits you design.

Enjoy

Kim, I'll add my welcome to Auntie M's. Was good talkin' to you yesterday at PJ. Looks like you pretty well know what you want & as I told ya, there really ain't nuthin' wrong with with the HF or TSC 4x8 trailer if you're willin' to build over the wheels. Lotsa folks here (including me) have done it that way for a 5x8, 5x10, or similar. If you want to spend some extra money for an actual 5x8 trailer (that you'll still have to build floor extension front and/or back for 10' length), I'd say go for it. Otherwise a 4x8 trailer frame is perfectly adequate!

Kim... Tons of good trailer info here:
http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?p=140446

The Tractor Supply trailer can be ordered without the floor or siderails for $299. See it here: http://www.tractorsupply.com/detail.asp ... 64&x=7&y=8

Note: it's a good deal, but some folks have had to beef up the tongue a bit. http://tnttt.com/viewto ... ts+trailer
