My name is John and my wife is Lynn, we live in NE PA. I saw a segment about TEARDROPS a year ago or so on the History Channel. They looked very interesting and very practical. I saw a couple being towed on the interstate and became hooked. The boss at work is a die hard fisherman and got hooked (no pun intended) on tears too and we've been researching quite a bit.
I tried to explain the concept of these to my wife but it wasn't until we were lucky to visit a State Park where the Tear Jerkers Liberty Bell Chapter folks were spending the weekend. We asked permission to photograph their TD's and spent over 3 hours with them while they explained their tears. They were very nice, a great bunch for sure.
It was either buy a new one, restore an old one (if I could find one) or build one from the ground up so the decision was to build one. One TD jumped out at me, it was on a different site, some folks were asking any info about it. I like the lines and shape so I emailed if I could obtain the dimensions. Hopefully I can draw some plans and start next spring.
I'm pretty handy building things but the electrical could be a problem.
There is a wealth of info here and I'm sure it will turn out fantastic. We're looking at a 5x10 to be pulled by pulled by a Honda Element. The galley will probably be designed to be a rolling soup kitchen, I was already asked by someone!
Someone said these trailers are an addiction, ours will probably be lettered "EASY DOES IT".
Thanks for what all of you have done,
John and Lynn
