Hi to All,

First I would like to thank Joanne for letting me come up to her place to see her trailer/td/weekender/custom. It was nice to get some ideas.

Well I am thinking of going with a classic 4x8 shape tear on the HF 8x12 trailer. I want to pull it behind my old 66 ford truck and maybe behind my Mini Cooper(limit of 1,000 lbs).

I have been trying to convince my wife that it will not be that expensive as I want to build "the shell, etc" to camp in ASAP and always add to it later.

One thing I am concerned about is that I think I will need step by step directions because I have not done to many wood projects.

Also I had a brain injury teaching highschool science back in Dec. 06 that I am still recovering from. So I am really sure I need some type of plans with pictures and great directions, maybe even a template. I looked at the Benroy plans here but I didn't understand all the lines going everywhere.

Does anyone have any Kuffle Kreek or Desert teardrop plans they are no longer using.

I laid out some string on the floor and my 8 year old daughter was excited, my wife thinks it is too small...

So I say something for Daddy and his little girl to have memories...

Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated,

Enjoy life,
Kelly Duran

to the playground Kelly. Sorry about the injury. Head issues can be really frustrating. The Benroy plans are great but need some paying attention to.

Steve Fredericks has a build manual on CD that other have found extremely useful. Find it here

We are always on line :D If you have a question, feel free to ask and someone will help. Pictures are what we do best. We understand how much they help everyone. Hint hint.. ;)

Enjoy the site! Spend time in the "builds" up in the Hall of Fame.

Hey Kelly! I'm glad that you found your way over here. I always enjoy showing off my trailer, so the pleasure was all mine.

The 4x8 trailers are pretty small, but if you are wanting to tow behind the Cooper you will want to build light and it's tough to build large and light. I'm sure this will be a great project for you and your daughter.

With regard to the plans, I would suggest that you invest into purchasing them. Kevin Hauser is a member of this group and I know how much time and effort he put into those plans. His plans are worth every penny you pay and if you feel that you need "step by step" plans, these would be a good choice. There are a lot of trailers on the road today that were built from those plans.

I look forward to hearing more about your build. Let me know when you get going on it and I'll swing by your place for a look and a bit of cheer leading.

This group has a ton of experience so there's no lack of technical support here. Welcome aboard!

Joanne

We are going to have to start a teardrop club here in Vegas pretty soon!

Hope you enjoy the forum. Sorry about brain injury, that can be tough.
Plan your build, like you are doing, ask lots of questions and post lots of pictures.

Thanks for the information. I have started to study the benroy plans. I am thinking with Steve's CD, the Benroy plans, and all the knowledge on this forum that I could probably make something that will go down the road. :D

Does anyone know if Steve's cd talks about a template or how to make your profile.

do I need a template that I can lay on the plywood or is it simple enough to just follow the directions.

I should probably just email Steve my questions. :worship:

Thanks-Kelly

p.s. Uncle & Auntie M- thanks for the kind words re: the head injury
