A newby with a vision

Postby Englands Finest » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:58 pm

Hi, as you can see, I'm from the other side of the "Big Pond". We just bought a small general purpose trailer, and decided to try and build a folding camper on it. My son is an airsofting fanatic but with the typical english weather its often uncomfortable when weekending at airsofting events. I have seen teardrops before on tv, and online, but never realy paid attention. The trailer base we are working from is about 36 * 60 inches, and I had intended to make a fold out unit simelar to one I used to use when serving in the Army.
Our biggest problem is size, both my son and I are over 6 feet tall, and not the lightest of bodyweights, so it will need to be strong!
Anyway I'll browse the site here, and see if I can find inspiration.

Welcome Finest... got a first name? got a location? Andrew is up in Ole England... he's the one that put together the design library.

Between the Hall of Fame, the Vintage Plans, the Design Library, and all the member builds, we've got lots of ideas for you.

Mike...

to the playground EF. We have lots of plans and even one that will work with a small trailer. 36" x 60" is pretty small for some big ol boys but I bet some of the fella's here can design one that will work.

Enjoy the site and :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

 Here ya go Peter. http://www.mikenchell.com/pichelp.html

The film must be pre-shrunk to fit this particular digi thing. You can put them in your gallery/album or you can store them in a web hosting place like Photo Bucket. The hosting place needs to allow hot-linking though.

If you need further help just give a yell! ;)

If you look in the 'Design Library' above, you'll see a motorcycle camper which might suit your purposes - though it's really only a tent on wheels.

I bet you could make the film fit the camera if you 'it it wiv an 'ammer.

Welcome to the board, Peter. You got me that time, just what is an airsofting fanatic? Is airsofting an English thing? I like your idea of a folding type of camping trailer. Some sketches would be helpful to give us an idea what you have in mind. Good luck on your build. Take lots of pics, you will never have another chance. Oh yes, be sure to post 'em.

Roly, sending greetings from California.
