Hello All, Thanks for being here. I am a single w\m 54yrs. young long haired old hippie. Have mellowed with age but still enjoy meeting people, traveling, and visiting places I have never been. It's my fourth week of retirement due to a disability I have decided to do the things I never took time out for in my earlier years. Seeing this country of ours rates top of my list so before I went out and just bought any trailer I looked around and your group seems to have the skinny and the fun ideals of travel and friendship. I hope I can learn from you all and enjoy my self for once. Thanks again.

Quote from Billy,
"Seeing this country of ours rates top of my list so before I went out and just bought any trailer I looked around and your group seems to have the skinny and the fun ideals of travel and friendship."

Welcome to the board, Billy. Bear with me, I just gotta jump in on this post. I can relate to your travel-plan statement. I am a firm believer that one should explore our own USA, from sea to shining sea, as thoughly as possible. I have enjoyed the 46 of the 48 that I have visited in the last 60 years, even though the campgrounds of years ago failed to have all of the toilets, showers, laundry rooms, full hookups, telephone,TV and computer hookups. Travel today, is quite different for us small trailer enthusiasts. Lots of neat places to camp now-a-days and lots of amenities to make travel more enjoyable.

If for some reason, I were traveling alone, I would not hesitate to get on the road with a trusty little teardrop trailer, and enjoy the benifits of the ease of manuverability, high gas milage and constant freeway speeds. My crosscountry travels in my tear have been a real adventure, and I suggest that you get to going with a teardrop as soon a possible. If able, I would recommend that you purchase a quality teardrop, load her up with your camping stuff, a couple of sacks of groceries and hit the road!

All across the country, there are friendly tear owners, eager to meet you, all you have to do is get the word out that you are coming their way. There are many Gatherings that you can attend and what could be a better way to enjoy the companionship of folks of like interests, share a cozy campfire, a bit of cheese and a glass of wine. (shucks, that kind of talk makes me want to hook 'er up and leave right away).

Do follow your dreams, remember, at 54, you may only have 50 or 60 years left to enjoy your travel plans. Ok, so now all you have to do is decide on which one you plan to own, take pics of yourself, your hauler and the new teardrop and post them on the board. If this pep talk fails to spark your interest, Huh, I guess I have been wasting my time and yours as well. :-)

Roly, full time retiree, part time teardropper and "sorta teardrop enthusiast" ;)
PS, any TDers, living near Billy, have him come over and check out your rigs, that'll help him make up his mind.

Keep your eyes and ears open.

1. get an iPod and store all that music that you have and store it in a small place.

2. Find the Southern California Teardjerkers so you can see what they got.

3. build one to your likes if you got no money or buy a used one or New if you are hurtn to much to try.

they go from there

Ron D. I had long hair once but was never a real hippy I kinda slid between the cracks. I just treat all folks equal. :peace: thats the best I can do.

Welcome, Billy. What's the 7-11 stand for?

The term "Hippie" does bring back some memories from the '60s, but for me the only "Woodstock" that had any relevance was on the business end of an M79.

I do enjoy Mad Jack's avatar - He's managed to keep all his ('60 Period) hair - looking forward to meeting him (and others) at one of the get-aways.
Get to camping, amigo.
