Postby FireLion » Sun Oct 07, 2007 11:10 am

Well, I just joined this forum hoping to get a bit more info on teardrops, pro's, cons, tips, help, etc. I don't have one yet, but I've researched a lot and teardrops seem to be the best, lightest, and cheapest way to go. I'm taking early retirement in December, plan on gettin a teardrop this winter, maybe new, maybe used. Then hit the road sometime around March of next year. I'll be travelling alone, so I don't need a lot of space.
I'm a former backpacker, but sleepin on the ground isn't that attractive anymore. I might bring my dog, Buster, with me on a few trips.
Good to be here, hope to make a lot of new friends and learn about gatherings, etc.
A bit about me, I'm 58 (and look good for my age :) . I'm heavilly tattooed, married 32 years, wife doesn't like to camp. I'm in maintenance at Lifetouch Publishing, a yearbook printer. Been there over 13 years, so I'm ready to kick back and enjoy life. Anything more ya wanna know about me, just ask. :QM
I'm gonna go check the forums now. FireLion

Welcome FireLion,

Glad you decided to jump in and join the forum.

First question, what's your first name ? Unless you want to end up being called FL, Fire, FireLion, or MR. FL.

Second question, where is Rosedale, KS.?

Well anyway, soon as you start your build, post lots of pictures. And jump in and post questions and any answers you have, but most of all try and have some fun. :D

See you around.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. :D
For the record, my first name is Robert, but FireLion, FL, FLBH, or hey you will do.
Rosedale is a small suburb of Kansas City, Kansas.
Man, there are a lot of teardrop makers out there! All I gotta do is find a dealer around Kansas City or within the 4 state area. ie: Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, or Nebraska. Any body know of any dealer listings for my area? I'm open to new or used. Thanks agin for the welcome!

They don't build them, but they bring them in from a dealer out East. The couple of times I have met the owner(Dana), he was a nice, honest guy. I believe they have a meet coming up for the ones he has sold - not sure when/where - that would give you some good feedback from the owners

Hi and welcome, Robert, I'm new to the forum too but have been looking at teardrops for several years. You will find this forum is a fantastically helpful group of folks!

If you are sure you don't want to build, you should also check out the Little Guy website at www.golittleguy.com to look over their trailers, then click on their "locate a dealer" and put in your zip - it will give you a listing of the closest to you; there are some in the Kansas City area, so you could "try one on for size". Of course a general internet search for teardrop trailers will get you some other manufacturers as well, plus there is a link to manufacturers further down on this index page. Ebay sometimes has teardrops, and there is also a link at the very very bottom of this forum's main index page for "teardrops for sale." I think you may find that some of the forum members will occasionally do a custom build and/or have one for sale - seems to me that almost every builder is talking about their "next build"! I know teardrops are space efficient, but sooner or later they've gotta run out of garage space! Of course, it may be that teardrops are sort of like potato chips...can't just have 1!

Hey Robert! I'm in Shawnee, Kansas. There are a bunch of KC area people with tears and tiny trailers. Keep your eyes open for gatherings in the area, everyone is always welcome to come and take a look. I think there is a Little Guy dealer south of Overland Park down 69 hwy, can't remember which town it's in but really not too far to go check them out.

Later,

Hey, Robert. I'm just down the road here in Topeka. Dana is a good guy over in MO, he sells the Yoder Toters. That dealer that sells the Little Guy trailers is down in Blue Mound or Mound City, KS. Other than that, that's all I know about them.

Man, there is a pile of TD'ers in the KC area:

Lot's more way out in the woods of MO and the plains of KS that I've met and camped with. Got alot of good OK and TX peeps that I've been to gatherings with, also.
