My new teardrop

Postby jengel » Sun Oct 21, 2007 6:02 pm

Hello All,
I've spent lots of time lurking as I've been making a decision about which teardrop to buy. Thanks for all the info.

I'm just back (to Vermont) from picking up my Retro Traveler 840 from Eric and Jeff at Trailerworks in Beaufort, SC. It is beautiful, a work of art. I was a little worried about being able to tow it behind my '98 Subaru Outback but it pulled like a dream, and gas mileage at 65 was about as good as not towing at 75. I haven't camped in it yet but hope to do a shakedown cruise next weekend.

I bought the tear because I've sold my house and belongings and am leaving work for good at the end of January to see the world (at least the parts one can drive to).

I look forward to meeting some of you at the gatherings.

Jordan

Hey Jordan,

That's a nice looking teardrop. I like how it's polished too. That's gonna be a bear to maintain though. I'll bet you're planning on letting the aluminum just develop a nice patina!!! ;)

Have fun!

Mike,
The Retro guys say that the anodized aluminum will keep it's shine with just a little soap and water. Boy do I hate waxing and polishing. I'll let you know.

Fantastic looking little tear. I love that model. I also really like how the curve of the door follows the curve of the roof.

Jordan, welcome to the group. Traveling and camping throughout the US is a great way to get away from it all and explore our great land. The wife and I did it for about 8 years and it was the most stress-free time of our lives.

I suggest you get involved with some of the teardrop and trailer gatherings so you will have new friends who have the same interests. The Tearjerkers would be a good place to start. Enjoy your new rig, it sure looks brand new. Be sure to bring your buffer and polish, it would be a shame to let it fade, IMHO.

Roly, wondering what part of the States you are from.
