Hello, folks!

I'm Dave, a wannabe teardrop owner/builder from upstate New York. I'm originally from Ohio, my fiancee is from Toronto, and hotels are costing us a fortune. (Grin)

Seriously, Linda and I both enjoy the outdoors and camping but we're not as flexible as we used to be, so sleeping on the ground isn't an option any more. I was considering a small pop-up camper when I saw a piece on the Travel Channel about teardrop trailers, and we decided I liked that idea better.

So thank you for making this forum possible, and I'll apologize in advance for all the newbie questions.

Welcome Dave,

I'll forgive the newbie questions if you let me know where you found that avatar image. I so need to get that on a T shirt :)

Greg,

Ah, yes. The fish tank. That's a creation of Phil Foglio at Girl Genius comics. Click the "Free Stuff" link, then scroll down to the Printable Gift Tags. The fish tank is in the middle of the blue oval.

They do sell some T-shirts with pictures from the Girl Genius comic, so it might be a nice gesture to email Phil or Kaja (his wife and co-writer) to ask first before you have one printed. If they don't have one, they may decide to add it to the collection. If not, they'd probably be happy to give you permission to print your own. I asked them if I could use a different image for a tattoo and they were very gracious. (And excited - they're not used to being famous.)

Image to the playground Dave and Linda. Dave you will find taking lots of pictures will not only keep the bubble oil level, Linda will be able to log on and make sure you are keeping a good pace. 8) ;)

Enjoy

That explains why I liked it so much. I've loved Phil's work since he was the original illustrator for the Myth Adventures comic, way back in my youth.

Greg,

I first encountered Phil's work when he drew a regular comic for Dragon Magazine. "What's New with Phil & Dixie." I found the Girl Genius comics completely independently when a friend sent me a link to a site full of comic heroes and I noticed the name Agatha Heterodyne. (Heterodyne is a radio engineering term, and I'm a licensed amateur radio operator.) Agatha is the main character of the Girl Genius comic.

I liked that fish tank image too, and have been using it as a forum avatar ever since.

Miriam,

Thank you - that's an excellent idea! Many people claim I'm a half bubble off level already, but Linda seems to like me anyway.

Greg,

I noticed that in another thread. I'm WD8CIV; with a little luck I'll be a VE3 in a few years.

I think besides David, I have found my other love of being able to spend more time with him eventually in a Teardrop!!

Now how sappy is that? (grin)

But seriously, this is something that we are really really excited to get off the ground so to speak.

Thanks - but from what I hear, TO has the highest ratio of geeks per capita, so it can't be all that bad. (grin)

I actually live in the western part of the GTA, but not downtown, which I am glad of.

Thanks for the welcome, Greg. Have a good day!
