HEY ALL

Postby stesul411 » Thu May 22, 2008 10:25 pm

HI, I'm new here and new to teardrop trailers. I've been thinking about buying a pop up but can't find anything nice in my price range, then last week I was at a local Cabellas and saw the teardrops they sell and fell in love. I told my son we could ditch the tent and build one for our wheelin trips. I've been looking around the web and found a few good sites and got allot of goos ideas, but this place has me in information overload (for me thats a good place to be). As soon as I find the trailer, I need something I can fit 15" wheels on so they match my Jeep wheels, I'm gonna start building.

Jeep nuts

Welcome! A fellow newbie here.
As you get started, don't hesitate to ask questions. The neat thing about these folks is that they are more than willing to help. You will be surprised how quickly you get answers to problems that crop up during your build.
I was looking into pop-ups too, when I found this site. I made the same decision that you did just as fast. Too expensive, too cold!
Good luck, Jim

what a great idea! There is so much you can do to the galley and interior if you do the cow theme through-out! We like lots of pics.

I'm pretty good at upolstery so I was thinking some kinda automotive cloth for the inside walls and roof, maybe a light tan instead of the varnished wood , with cow pattern blanket and pillows of course The galley is gonna be kinda sparse without allot of built ins so I can use the stuff I already have, coleman stove, coolers etc.

Plan is to build on a single axle 16' boat trailer my buddy has (freebee, with good title), it's 62" between the fenders and long enough to go a full 12' front to back with room for a tool box, battery and propane tank on the tounge.

Welcome, stesul44! You gotta name? or an easier handle?
You could go with a chuckwagon theme, or a bunkhouse theme, or a barn theme! :pinktear:
I thought of a few others, but embarrased myself ...

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. You might want to check out the " Offroads Construction Secrets" forum. Reading what you want to do above, looks doable to me. Just do your design work first and then take lots of pictures to document as you go. If you run into a problem and can show us a picture, lots of times, someone here can help you out. Anyway, good luck and get to building.

See you around.
