Another Texan Newbie with a TTT that's not a TD

Postby Kiffer » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:47 pm

Hello from Lake Buchanan, TX

We started with a tent. Got a bigger tent. Then, got yet a bigger tent. Then, got a pop up. Sold the pop up. Got another tent (bigger than the pop up). Now, we just bought a 1989 Skamper 1300T travel trailer. Cute as a button and, at 13' x 6.5', the size of a big button. Was wanting to build, and may still do that, but also wanted to camp quicker than it would take to finish that, so bought this little jewel.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever heard of this trailer and, if so, do you have any idea how I could somehow obtain an owner's manual or brochure for this little rig. I can't seem to find anything about Skamper older than 2005 online even though their web site says they've been making them since 1959. I've emailed them but don't expect much from it. I'll try to get a pic on here of it when I figure out how to do that.

Thanks for this forum. Met some of you at Inks Lake some months ago. Hope to see you again and meet some new folks, too.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

I will be building the Baja Benroy very soon and hope to join in on the fun. Meet some others, and go on some gatherings.

Welcome. I hope you'll join us at some gatherings. Check out the LCG III threads in the SounthCentral section of the forum. We usually do a gathering down your way in November, IIRC.

We have some "historians" here who can probably shed some light on your camper -- I'm not one of them.

Try this link and see if anyone there can give you an idea about a manual. I have been considering a Scamp or the U-Haul brand just because of the weight of the trailer, but good used ones are getting fewer and further between.

Call Scamp and see if they can get you one or a copy of one. Companies rarely post past 10 years on the web for any information because they rarely stock/keep parts past 10 years in stores. Also if there is a ISBN for the book, university book stores can usually order books from that. Don't know if there is ISBN's on owners manuals or not.

Amazon and fleabay are sometimes good sources for owner manuals.

:applause: Fixed Skamp to Scamp

Skamper, not Scamp - I don't think there is any similarity between them.

It really is a Skamper and not a Scamp

Thanks for all the welcome posts. Sorry it's taken so long to say thanks. I have been trying since my first post to learn how to get pictures on here and I can't seem to get mine to reduce to the size needed by the forum. Here goes another try...

http://media.photobucket.com/image/skam ... 80.jpg?o=4

If this works, should be able to see the album that has 4 pics in it.

We're planning to be at the November Inks Lake gathering so hope to see you there.
