COMPACT travel trailer

Postby Songbird » Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:52 pm

Hello,

I am in the process of refurbishing an abandoned Compact trailer, which I understand was made in California about 1972-1976. I am refurbishing on a shoestring, but on a recent maiden camping trip the trailer was very comfortable and fun.

I pull this trailer with a 2002 Saturn Sports Coupe. I would be interested in more infomation about the Compact that you could share.

:)

Hi, Songbird:

I believe the manufacturer made more than one style. Is there a name on the outside of the trailer that tells you which of the Compact styles it is? Examples: Compact Jr. Compact II, Compact III? Of course, pictures might tell us a lot more....

Sorry didn't have a smaller picture size. This is Damian Rutherford's of Spamboree.

Agreed Planovet, just trying to coherse Songbird out of their cage. When I posted the picture I had in my files, I didn't own one. Ironically, after the post, I have this trailer.

It is now stripped and ready for fresh paint inside and out. The 70's original canary yellow, will be changed to white. The frame will be detached, and painted as well.

If anyone has Doug Keister's Teadrop book, on page 116, you can see the blue trailer pictured above. It also has an interior picture. Mine is laid out the same way. I haven't decided on a color theme for mine inside yet, but due to the white exterior, I need some color inside.

bump...
I guess another newbie bites the dust. Oh well... I thought I would be able to share tips on the restoration of this model trailer. I just finished the welding reconfiguration of the hitch. Next, complete frame primer and paint, then paint the shell both inside and out.

Songbird you still there?
