I've been lurking, drooling, and dreaming for quite so time. I've finally going to say Hi.

I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler. I'm hoping to make a nice comfortable teardrop that I can use for hunting and occasionally camping with my wife and daughter. I think that they will fall in love with the idea so I'm sure we'll see more camping time...which will be great!

I've seen quite a few wonderful designs. I've decided to utilize my CAD skills ( or lack thereof) to create my own custom design.

I have a harbor freight trailer. I am considering making a new trailer for the teardrop. I have the 4 lug small tires on my exist. trailer. I need something a bit more 'offroadish'

Wish me luck as I begin my design process. I might annoy everyone here with my process... Sorry in advance... I want something that will be safe and budget friendly.... as I'm not from Beverly Hills.

Welcome Zelix.
Where are you from?
I also have a Jeep, and a teardrop is a natural mate.
Have fun with the build, and more with camping.

Zelix,
Welcome to the forum. Great people and excellent information here. What state are you located in? We are in Pennsylvania. Cause theres a gathering in Parvin State Park in New Jersey October 10-11-12
and youll get a chance to see some homebuilt teardrops up close.
Good luck on your build,
Bill and Marijo :applause:
Hope to see you on the road.

Hey zelix

Welcome to the forum. As a long time lurker, I know you've seen the other Jeep style teardrops and tiny travel trailers.

So how is yours going to be different? :R

Thanks Mike. I've seen alot of different styles on here. The fact that everyone can start with a basic (for lack of better words) shape/type and customize it to fit their specific requirements is what I find interesting.

I like a lot of the ideas in this build. I also like and will use the basic shape. I've also seen this person on the Jeep forum I've joined recently.

One of the things I'll be most interested in is the cabinets.

Thanks. It's in my opinion a good looking camper.

I've been thinking of also making the camping part detachable. It would be nice to have the trailer as a multifunctional.

I haven't thought of how to do this. I wonder if anyone has thought of that yet.

Image 8) Another lurker that has been here way longer than I have.

We have had a few mention building to remove but don't hear much about the removing part later. I am sure it can be done since so many folks build them and add the trailer later.

I bet you know about the :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: :hammer:  :designing: Image Huh! 8)

 Yeah, I guess I've been around for a while.

I've been soaking in information and trying to get the basic ideas down before I started annoying everyone here. it's also a good idea to just see all the great trailers everyone has made, framing techniques, and features. Why not learn from others first, right?

I have the general shape. I'm making a checklist of the features I want so when I get into the design I can incorporate them. I'll start plugging the trailer into AutoCAD soon. I hope to have the basic design done by this year. and get started on it soon.
