Dan,
I live in Altoona Pa and I found my Aluminum at a Tractor Trailer Parts place. So look in your area for such a place.
Good luck to you.

I found aluminum at a company that builds trailers for tractor trailers also. It is slightly thicker than I would like but can certainly be used. Moldings can often be found at local RV dealers which will save on the shipping costs. There are usually multiple sources for materials for building a teardrop. Sdtripper2's Index above has many listed as well as many options for materials for building a tear.

Hope your tear build goes good and you enjoy your build.

aluminum

Postby eamarquardt » Sun Sep 28, 2008 12:07 am

I got mine from:

http://www.copperandbrass.com/cnb/index.htm

It was 5X10 .040 5052 as I remember. Big price break at #100 so it may be cheaper to buy more than you need than exactly what you need. Go figure! They pack it really well and can ship anywhere.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gus

Hi I'm new to the site but may be able to help with this. try Ryerson Metal
http://www.ryerson.com/stocklist/Stockl ... le&ID=1709
This is the stocklist for sheet aluminum. They may be able to deliver to you or they might be able to tell you of one of their customers that is in your area. If you're not licensed you may not be able to buy directly from them.
One idea is to find a sign shop that uses aluminum. They get lots of sheet and may be able to tack on a few sheet to one of their orders. Ask around if anyone you know might have a business contact that you can order through.

Good Luck

Combine order?

Postby jim7310 » Thu Oct 08, 2009 3:55 pm

Dan,
I also live in Central Indiana. I was just speaking with SAF and checking prices on aluminum sheet - if we bought enough for 2 trailers we would not have at least a 100 lb order, get a price break and not have to pay shipping. This would give a substantial savings! Send me a PM if interested.
