Newbie from Newfoundland Canada

Postby fitzee » Wed Oct 15, 2008 8:41 pm

Hi all name is Tony Fitzpatrick, fitzee. I am from Newfoundland Canada and live in a town called Conception Bay South or CBS for short. I am a small business owner and my business is restoring and building old car. I have had a love for Teardrops and tiny Travel trailers ever sence I found the internet. Started building a teardrop about 6 years ago and it was put on hold due to, having too many other projects!! It is time to get back at a camper project but my ideas of what I want have changed. I am in the market now to build something a little bit bigger then a tear drop, plans are something I can stand up in and something with a indoor kitchen,

Hi Tony, I don't know how far along you are on your TD build, but it sounds like you are in the need for a stand-up vintage type trailer. I can relate to that, since my sweet wife needs to stand up when getting dressed and loves to have potty needs taken care of, without going outside in the middle of the night. Consiquently, I am restoring a 1963, 10 ft, Kenskill Vintage Travel Trailer.

How about filling us in regarding what stage you are in with your build. You might be able to build it higher, longer and have some of the things that you need to be comfortable. Take some pics, post em and surely you will get some ideas here on the Forum.........Oh, by the way, welcome to the board, we're here to help.

Image to the playground Tony. I think we finally found someone to take Dean's slowest builder title away. ;)

If you look in the Hall of fame you will find a few homebuild TTT's. Mike S. is working on one now and it is a beauty.

Enjoy and dig out the camera, get us a :pictures: :pictures: of the TD.

I wouldn`t say I was slow in the build. I would have to say It is at a full stop...Till now. I designed a teardrop, drew up plans, Picked up wheels, axles, springs and steel and welded the frame togeather, then everthing stopped. I have 4 other projects, all cars, and between moving to another house and starting a new business, everthing went on the back burner for a few years. My son is grown up now and I want to spend some time camping with my wife and I know for my wife to enjoy this it must not have a outside kitchen and it must have a bathroom of some sort. So my old teardrop plans are not much good ,I figure I will start from scratch and use as much of the old project as I can.

The desire for porta-potty space and a bigger bed are the reasons for our 2nd build!
Good grief, isnt it the weekend yet?
Maybe if I sleep in the camper the week
will pass faster

Fitzee:
Nice to have another Canuck working the wood. My next door neighbour is also from Conception Harbour (Bill Duke) who's been in Ontario for about 20 plus years. He's been a great help in keeping the build going (and it has been going for almost two years now). Post lots of pics, and throw in a few old car snaps for us car guys.
