Just Another Newbie...

Postby BrandonWhite » Fri Nov 14, 2008 3:04 pm

Hello all, I just wanted to introduce myself...

My name is Brandon and live in Middle Tennessee. I've been researching teardrop trailers for a few weeks and have a strong desire to build one. I have never attempted a project of this size and will admit that I'm not that handy with tools but this is something my wife and I really want to do.

I was looking into buying a tent trailer or popup camper but given the small size of my car I did more research and came across Teardrop Trailers which seems to be a better fit.

I don't plan to start this project until next year and hope to learn more before I decide to start. My tools are limited and I'm really unsure what tools I need vs. what tools I can get by with.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I guess I'll get back to lurking.

-Brandon

Welcome to the forum. A simple tear can be built with very basic tools and as long as you can use a tape measure and pencil you`re on your way!

Hi Brandon, Lurking is OK so long as you are planing , digesting and cogitating also. Heres a link to a tool thread you may have some interest in. www.mikenchell.com/forums/viewtopic.php ... =tool+list Dont forget to browse the hall of fame, the galley galery and the design library as well. That is your task should you choose to accept it!  :applause: 8)

Brandon,
Welcome to the forum. Youve come to the right place. Us newbies need all the help we can get. Take your time, make plenty of sketches. Dont let this project intimidate you. You can make it any shape you want. I just finished mine about 2 months ago and started last summer of 07. Let her sit for the winter in the garage. Just take your time. Ask lots of questions and believe me theres plenty of friendly helpful people just itching to help.
Good luck and enjoy your build.
 Bill and Marijo :applause:
Hope to see you on the road.

Image to the playground Brandon. Tools that are helpful start with a Jig saw and belt sander. A really good electric drill will be most helpful.

Oh and don't forget the camera. You will want to take lots of pictures to keep the bubble oil level. 8)

Brandon,

Middle Tennessee is beautiful (I work in Lincoln County, live in AL)! Welcome!

This is definitely the place to lurk-you'll learn a lot!
