Hello all from Vancouver Island British Columbia. I have been looking at this site for five months now and finding it refreshing that there are so many simular minded true individuals and I am proud to be part of this movement. My particular interests are any form of self building and tiny houses. You will find my version of the Taylor smallest ttt which I am well onto finishing, regretably not having read rule #2 pictures pictures pictures before this stage as seen in the album there are no ealier pictures. All reviews positive or negative will be apreciated. I must at this time thank everyone of you for this sight particulary Mike and his Wife for there forsight in starting this movement. Welcome to the forum, glad you found us. I do have a few comments about your build, or rather questions, I guess. What is the exterior finish, hey, where is the door, probably at the rear? Can you post a shot of the floor plan, how wide and long is it, and when will it be finished? Looking good so far, wow, and you can stand in it too.........pics, take em and post em.
Roly :thumbsup:

Would love to hear more details of your build. It is different than what we usually see here. Looks like you have a very good start on your build. If the winter doesn't slow you up you should be camping soon.

Moe information on build #1

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Tue Nov 18, 2008 11:05 pm

Firstly I must mention this is not the TTT I wanted to build but if I was going to mess up its best to be small . I have used this build to teach myself and as a form of curing after some medical stuff I am fine now. I will atempt to answer the enquiries here. The exterior finish is as follows wash plywood with acitone seal with 10% diluted resin cover all seams corners and roof with 6 oz mat . Sand to 120 spray high solids primer sand to 220 glaze imperfetions the red spots in photo gallery, sand some more spray automotive sealer and paint. This is my rendition of a small trailer made by taylor coach , they have a web site but i do not know how to set up so you can click on it here. The floor platform is 5ft. long by 6ft. 4in. wide the sleeping arangement is across @ 6ft. 1in. The interior hight is 6ft. 1in. Total wieght hopefully will be #700 dry with 10% tongue wieght & 2000lbs gross. At present I am waiting for some custom mouldings and will have complete within 10 days maybe . As must be noticable my computer skills are only 5 months old so posting a floor plan will take a little more learning. I will not be stopping for weather as I have a nice heated shop and I hope to take build #2 to Arizona in jan. 09. Thank you for the interest only to happy to answer all inquiries Best Wishes Sandy

Just did a Google search and found the Taylor Coach site. Looks like the one you are building is along the lines of the 8' Lil El which is at http://www.taylorcoach.com/Default.aspx?tabid=314. Interesting build. Can't wait to see the inside! :thumbsup: :applause: :applause:

Taylo coach look alike

Postby Sandy St. Louis » Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:26 am

Dave, your are absolutly right,but the picture and discription on this model do not add up you cannot have the size of bed and the cabinets as shown in the body length stated as seen throughout the models the pictures are often the same. It is still a good model to learn on and I still have children whom have not produced grandkids and they will us it. Thankyou for putting that connection in so members can see. Other than 2 overhead cabinet doors and the eating table the interior is complete the pictures I have taken are very hard to interpatate so I havent posted I will try again tomorrow Best regards Sandy

Hi Sandy,
I'm over the hump in Port Alberni. Your trailer is very interesting! I'll have to bring mine by sometime and see yours if you don't mind. My pics are linked below in my signature. We can sleep 3 in ours due to the 5' fold out bunk. Also, the Wee-kender manufacturer ( http://www.wee-kender.com/ ) is right behind the firehall near Hwy 4 on Errington Road. He is good for info too if you have time to stop in and say hi.
I may have mine on the road Saturday as I am going to Coombs for a party and like to bring my bed with me in case I decide to have a few drinks! Then I can leave in the morning!
Cheers,
Brian.

Nice to hear from some locals. I have been to
endeavor as I only live 2 blocks from his new shop he makes a good product but he is not set up to supply any parts. I must post more pictures as there is little to do until after my upcoming Arizona adventure as I will stop in to see Grant "CHEERS" in Redding for some proper running lights. Feel free at anytime to visit Sandy

duh, where is the back end? :}

I'd be interested in knowing how it affects gas mileage. while most of us go with traditional shapes to keep them aerodynamic, this design seems to have a lot of surface area to pull through the air... and it would seem that would be tough on mpg...
