Thanks, I'm wondering why you all do not use metric measurements :? .

Is there any table to convert the sizes?

You should be able to Google a conversion program or chart to help out.

I heard a long, long, long time ago that the USA was going to convert over to the metric system, but that has just never happened!!

Hi Graddus, welcome aboard!
The metric system never caught on over here. I was in elemetary school when the big push was onto convert and we learned both. I havent seen my daughter drag home any metric homework yet.
Occasionally at work Ill get blueprints that are all in metric, gives the old guys fits! lolol I actually like working in metric, no fractions, the math is easier..
Have a great build!! Paul

Hallo Graddus,

Welcome to the forum.

There is not much in metric here. Andrew has done some designs in metric, as he is from old England. You can see those in the Design Library, up there in the menu.

As for the dutch cap, that pertains to cooking with dutch ovens, which you'll find a lot of here, and also on Joanne's forum, Camp-Cook, also up there in the menu.

You'll also find you have neighbors, which are not too far from you. Henk (H@nk), or Classic Finn, for example.

Have fun!

Mike...

Hi, you should H@nk ask to post a picture of the axle of his caravan, you'll be surprised. You have never seen anything like that.

Welcome aboard, Graddus, you type better English than we can type Dutch. By the way, what are our black-iron cooking pots called in Holland, and are you familiar with them? Good luck on your teardrop plans to start a build, remember, ask questions, take pics, post em and then take a trip up to Finland and get in touch with Heikki, preferrably in the summer. He may be popping in here before long with his two cents, he loves to encourage Euopean builders.

Greetings Graddus there in the Lowlands. Welcome onboard the Teardrop Forum. You,ll receive a lot of help from the fine folks here. Dont be afraid to ask questions they wont bite ya. If they do its not such a bad of a bite. I know Ive been around here long enough.

Also youve got a very tall Dutchman there in the Lowlands to also help he,s built a very nice trailer. H@nk. Nice guy too.

And I,ll be happy to help out as well. If I can. ;)

About the inches and metric system. I learned the inches and feet bit from actually using a tape measure sent over by a forum member

Now Im using both systems. Real slick.

There are some fantastic builds and builders here. And they are very helpful. I can say that because thats how I got my start. And they helped me get more addicted as we went along.

About the weight of your tear and amount of weight you can pull with your car has to be exact Im afraid. As we know the laws are strict ans beauracracy is in the same category.

Post some photos of your trailer and so on that way we can answer any questions you may have. If I ever build again Im doing my trailer frame in aluminum. And also not as heavy as I have mine.

But ok. Again Welcome and enjoy your stay here.

Best regards

Hi Graddus,

Welcome to the forum. I imagine the metric to English coversion can be a problem. But if we can help out, we will give it a try. Looking forward to seeing your design. Hope you get in and have some fun.

See you around.

Hey Graddus,

Leuk om eindelijk een Nederlander op het forum te hebben.
Jij bent toch niet de monteur van de houthandel Fantuzzi's?
En inderdaad, het onderstel is echt een succes.

And now for our forreign friends.

Nice to see some Dutch college-builders on the forum.
I hope you are the engeneer, making my forklifttruck in the company I used to work?
And yes, the trailer is a real great thing to have and built on.
Ask as many as you like, there are no stupid questions, only the questions you don't ask, are stupid. Remember, one inch, " , is about 25 MM. So seven/ eight th is 22 MM.

And thanks Heikki for calling me a nice guy.
By the way, Finn, do you have an adress for the typical american screws with the block point in it?

And for Rolly, we don't use the Dutch oven in Dutch-land, sorry.

Grtz Henk

Ive seen the similar screws in a place called Clas Ohlsen. No difference in them. Do you have such an outlet in Heineken Country?

Which size do you need? I may have an extra box or 2 collecting dust
