big hello from texas, been looking for several years for a light, easy track t/t. looked at a ton of junk. finally decided to build. started googeling, came across a page showing how to build one from scratch, 1945 style. i'm a retired remodeling carpenter so i though, hey why not.
this idea came 2 days ago, have already changed everything.
tell me what you think. i thinking a 5' wide x 8' long x 6'3" tall inside. useing either a utility trailer frame bought from dealer w/ 12 wheels or finding a popup for the base. i think this would be what should be done first.
i can see that if i'm going to be on this site, i'd better upgrade my computer knoweledge.
thanks reid37

Image to the playground Reid37. Be sure to look at the "Hall of Fame" above for some styles. You can do that tall and still be 5 wide. Not sure I would want it. Most use a dropped floor to keep some balance.

If you look at the Puffin and others you will see the difference.
http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=26957 this is the new Puffin. the original was wider.

Good luck and be sure to let us see your progress. :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

Welcome to the forum! You'll find many examples of almost any tear or small trailer in the Hall of Fame above and in the personal album of forum members. If you haven't found it yet you might also find the Generic Benroy Plans above very helpful even if you are building another style. Also, don't worry about computer skills you will find you can get around the forum with very little effort. Hope you are able to start your build soon.

Welcome Reid37, looks like you are about ready to join the esteemed teardrop builders group. 5 wide is nice, but if you are going to go for that height, I recommend that you consider at least 9ft long, maybe even 10. Many 8 foot owners have indicated if they were to do it again, they would add another foot in length. Try to get together with some teardrop owners in your area, or better yet, check out where there will be a TD gathering and just stop by and ask questions. Walk-ins are always welcome, as many of us want to spread the word about our trailers.

Go to the Hall of Fame, above left and select a profile that you like. There is just about any shape there that has ever been built. Good luck, remember, take pics, you only have one chance during your build, and Oh yeah, be sure to post them.

Welcome to the forum. What part of Texas are you from? There's a bunch of us all over the state. Might be someone close by. Have fun with your build.

A lot of people have fashioned little changing roomes right outside one of the doors on there tears.
Mines big enough, having built it on a pop up frame that I have a fold down couch that I can sit on and change.
I think your best bet is to get the trailer and design around it unless you're going with a custom built trailer.

Good Luck and Have Fun

A small clip-on changing room which doubles as a porta-potty location is simple to attach to the roof edge of a tear. Mine is made of pvc plastic pipe, shower curtiain sides and works great.......However it is advisable to have 2 doors if this is one of your options.

On beautiful Lake Livingston? I would agree with the 10 ' foot length comment and tell that "old methodist preacher" in town that he can't preach and he'll tell you why i had to move to Mt pleasant! (he's a good friend of mine) Good luck on your build and welcome

Hey R37, we usually set up a tent or change in the restroom at the park since we stay in state parks most of the time. Had to look on the map to see where you live. Noticed its not too far from Lufkin. There are at least three TD's in that area that I know of.
