Newbie Greetings from Central MS

Postby terrybaldridge » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:15 am

Hey All,

I am Terry, I live in Vicksburg, MS and I am new to the td community. I currently have a dutchman pop up that is melting down in my backyard. We bought it new in '95 and I think it has about reached the end of it's useful life. So I am considering taking it down to the frame and rebuilding it as a teardrop.

I helped my brother build his teardrop (you can see an overview of the build here: http://www.fiddlemania.com/teardrop/index.htm ). So I am not a complete babe in the woods about this. But I guess I am at least somewhat clueless just the same.

Look forward to meeting and getting to know others in the group.

Added note:

Thanks for the welcome. Luckily Jerry (who I think is a member here also) was making notes on what he would and wouldn't do if he built another, so I am at least somewhat ahead of the game. We will all see how that works out for me.

No twin. I am the shorter, heavier, balding, glasses wearing one of the pair, but I do have youth on my side. :} Or were you comparing me to Bonnie (better known as the Inspector)?

Not unless Bonnie has a beard. Your brother looks just like you. Not sure which ones which. Lol.
Have fun,

Welcome Terry! Well you know what you have to do, go for it. Will your
Tear be 4 feet wide too?

If I use the old pop up frame I will make it as wide as I can. I have not performed a post mordom on it yet. And I have some things to do around the house before I start on it.

Welcome to the forum from one Mississippian to another. Glad to see another one from the Magnolia State. I think that makes 6 of us now.

Mark your calendar for June 26,27 & 28th. We are putting together a gathering in Greenville, MS. I'll be posting more details about the weekend soon. Come by and camp with us, or just stop in and check us out for ideas and/or just some good fellowship.

Thanks for the welcome. Wish I would have looked for forums a little earlier so I could have made it by the Grenada Campout.

I will try to day trip up to Greenville with a camera. I doubt seriously if I have anything going by then and tents are less and less appealing.

Southwest MO, huh? I probably spent more nights camping in the Ozarks than all other places combined. Out on Tannycomo, on the Buffalo, down in Mountian View. Spent a bunch of night up there. Growning up my grandparents had a cabin on lake norfork, so a lot of time was spent there also. Though with more solid cover over my head.

Read your build log, that is a pretty impressive rig. It appears you have spent a bunch of time in the playground yourself.
