Been an Tiny travel trailer forum stalker for quite some time now and got soo much good information. I am a wedding and portrait photographer who took 6 months off of work (well, I'm certainly taking lots of photos on the road, and family portraits etc, but no weddings for 6 months) to road trip around the USA. I have a blog if you want to see more photos

In the meantime, I thought I would give back from all my stalker time and do a little post!
The trailer I am pulling is a 1967 Vintage Scotty. Found it on ebay for $1000. It was basically a glorified aluminum tent! So, I invested another $5000 (more than I wanted or expected, but I'm happy with the way things turned out).
The upgrades include
~an electrical system which includes a solar panel, outlets, 2 batteries, and ability to plug in.
~a 25 gallon water tank
~new updated propane system (2 burner stove works)
~heater (propane powered)
~fantastic vent (to keep the pups cool when I'm not around)
~some welding and old leak fixing
~new tires and bearings all fixed and greased
~new lights
~~the lights, vent and water pump are powered by the solar panel
~~the stove and heater are powered by the propane tank
I have been on the road for 7 weeks and haven't had to plug in once, everything has been solar powered.
The propane lasts a couple of weeks with the cooking during the day and the heater on at night.
This is the first time I have pulled anything, so I don't have any basis for comparison. But, for all I can tell it is pretty great!! I can still make the tight turns that the Element is famous for, the trailer tracks perfectly, and I'm getting pretty good at backing up and parking, plus reattaching to the hitch all on my own : )
My gas mileage varies between 12mpg (in the mountains in strong winds) to 19mpg (mostly flat and I upgraded to the midgrade gas). So, not great, but hey, I'm pulling a house with me! I started using midgrade gas and that seems to have improved things a bit~
The only thing it doesn't have is a bathroom. So, I have one of those little fold out seats that you put a bag in from Bass Pro Shops for $10. Mostly I am becoming a public bathroom queen : )
I am traveling with just me and my 2 dogs, and they have adapted pretty well. It is small, but we take plenty of walks and do a fair amount of hiking, so they are doing ok. Glad to have had the heater for Daisy especially, as she gets cold and shivers below 40 degrees.
Ok, that is a super long post, but hopefully the info is interesting/useful for some.
Plenty of photos on the blog, a few posts back there are some detailed photographs of the scotty
