hello from Texas...

Postby hippie-hiker » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:01 pm

Hello all, I have been visiting this site for awhile. My hubby and I have been lookin for a TT. We finally found one on ebay for really next to nothing....1,100. I was so very shocked b/c I had been searching expecting to buy one for a few thousand. We picked it up and it is EXACTLY what we wanted! :)

8) OK....I have my first question where can we buy the foam for the bed? We can't put a matress in b/c well the back dose open with a kitchen but, you can't get in the trailer from there. Hoping for some helpful hints!

Looking forward to visiting with ya'll.

Hey Hippie-

Welcome to the forum! I'm a newbie, too, and also from San Antonio! Congrats on the great find! I'm going to build ours, so we won't be out camping for a while. Hopefully not too long!

I know a lot of folks get a foam mattress from Wal-Mart - has memory foam on top or something. Some just do pieces of foam from Joann's Fabrics. Lots of choices!

Glad you're here!

Welcome aboard! :applause:

We got our foam mattress from IKEA but there isn't one in San Antonio :(

Welcome to the forum.

I got a full size 4 inch mattress topper with memory foam from Wal-Mart and cut it down to size. I bought a custom size cover from Knox Foam, but hey have recently closed their doors, so you might have to make one yourself, or find a seamstress or boat upholstery person.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

I bought an 8 inch Wal-mart, good but way too much

I really thought about the Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60143280

inexpensive, I'd get it next time

Image to the playground Hippy-Hiker. I got my foam at an outlet but Walmart has some great stuff. You might also check around for an upholstery shop to see if there is something you like.

A hint---open the shrink wrap inside. 8) Now all you need is :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: cause we have a need to fill and you really will want lots many years down the road.

Welcome
I'm probably going to jinx myself here and maybe draw a few groans but...
We have been sleeping on a $30 Coleman air bed in our TT for 4 years. No problem and more comfortable than our high dollar Sleep Number bed at home. They might not be good for a TD where you have to crawl in but work well in a TT. I do have a spare one on board..... just in case.

I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.
