Newbie needs help quick!

Hi! I have the opportunity to pick up an old Serro Scotty Sportsman today for cheap. I'm not sure if it is the wise thing for me to do. It looks to be pretty decent as far as exterior and general structure is concerned. Plywood inside will require replacement and I'm not sure what else. Here's my thing.. I'm trying to determine whether or not I would be better off picking this up for about $100 and rehabing it or if building a teardrop from the ground up would be a better move for me since I'm a total rookie at all this. I will need to decide to decide quickly before the guy that has it decides to dismantle and get rid of it.

As a teardrop builder and a recently refurbished vintage travel trailer owner, I can tell you that it probably would be quicker and cheaper to do the repairs required on the Standy trailer you mentioned. It all depends on what your style of camping is. Wow, only a hundred bucks for a whole stand-up trailer, you can't beat that, you would spend much more for just wheels and tires for a newly constructed teardrop trailer. It is kind of nice to stand inside and change clothes, use a porta-potty and cook inside if it rains. It's up to you. Oh yes, welcome to the forum.

My 10 ft Kenskill standy was thrashed inside, and I just glued new plywood to the old sides and ceiling. Works fine for me.

For 100 bucks, go for it. If it turns out to be too far gone to save, you can part it out and sell the parts to other Scotty restorers.

Yup, I'd grab it for 100 bucks, for sure.

Theresa-

It will need more work than you think, just be prepared.

BUT for the time & money you spend you'll have a sweet little trailer!:applause:

Here's Len's recent Scotty rebuild:

Couldn't get any pics last night. It was getting dark when I got it home. I'll be putting some up very soon.

Go for it!

You could probably piece it out for more than that.

Could also sorta quell the crazy desire to build your own TTT.
