Hey from South Carolina

Postby CPnthrfan » Wed May 13, 2009 5:52 pm

Hey yall my name is Walt. I am ready to build a tiny trailor of some sort. So far im considering something like the Weekender. I mainly want the gallie because we normally camp with 2 adults and 2 kids and when i get my kids on some trips it will be 5 kids. So i either need on that sleeps 4,with a gally and is fairly simple and cheap to make. I have a 82 suburban that can sleep 4 if needed lol. but mostly we use tent. Last weekend we camped at Drehr Island near Newberry Sc and saw a camper with a teardrop he built himself from plans on the internet Awhile i wanted to restore a old motorhome(that became too much) and remember seeing plans for teardrop. And i use to transport motorhomes for Fleetwood and saw a Tiny trailors here and there. Anyways that what brought me here. For the last few days i have been reading just about everyones build that has a thread learning as much as i can. So any help i can get will be alot especailly some thing that seems to fit my needs and can be with basic tools. i promise to post pics of the build and need something i can start with out the trailer(it will be one of the red trailer most of you used). Agin thanks for all the help so far and thanks for any ideas or help you can offer. ~ Walt

Walt,
Welcome to the forum. Lots of info and good people who are just ready and willing to help. You can always check out the design Library at the top of the page. Just remember the planning is as much fun as the build.
Enjoy,
:applause: Bill and Marijo
Hope to see you on the road.

Hey Walt,

Welcome to the forum...

There are a number of folks that have build for 4 or 5... but like you say, if you just need the teardrop for the galley, the weekender should work for you.

Check out the pics here, if you haven't already...

Well, sorry to say I'm not an expert (though I'm learning a lot). But what I lack in know-how I make up for in enthusiasm for the quest! I'm hoping to go camping in mine before the season is over...

Keep in touch!

Hi,

I'm not actually at that point yet. I am still finishing the side walls and I am hoping to get them attached this week. I think the bunk is going to be a good solution for us, though. There's a picture in my build thread of a mock-up of where the bunk will be, with me in there trying it out.

There are some other folks on the list who have built bunks, and another person that built hammocks. I don't have the links at hand, but I'm sure someone could point you in the right direction.

hhmmmmmmm, well we are us to tents so if we have to we can all sleep in the floor or back in the tent. SO I may go in a direction of the gally and having a place to store my gear between camping trips without unloading everytime. But a air condition in Humid South Carolina is always good lol. I may try bunks still. lol :?
