Noob from Canada eh?

Hello everyone!

My name is Neil and I fair from Ontario Canada. The mrs (Chantal) and I have some friends out west who built this so called 'teardrop trailer'. Chantal said to me one day, "hey Neil, check this thing out its kinda neat."
Of course I wasn't all that interested at first but one night as bordem got the best of me I googled it. And I fell in love.

I have the KuffelCreel plans, bookmarked Tomswenson's site and found this site through Toms. So far off to a good start. First snag. a trailer. now i have read the posts and to my understanding an HF trailer isn't required. its more of a easier way to do things. Since im in Canada its harder to get one of these Bolt together trailers (and Chantal cringes at the idea of a frame that is bolted together) I have decided to get one welded, at the cost of 800$ with 2000# axle , 12' zero offset tires, 3leaf susp, 48" by 96", axel set to 36" from back of trailer.
my tow vehicle is a Cavalier so my aim is to keep the TD under 1000#
To all of you O'very-wise TD builders does this sound suitable for a trailer chasis design?
and is the wood 2x2 in the middle of the HF chasis just to prevent it from folding?

I am super excited to upload photos of my progress! :D

Thanks for all the help!
:applause:

Welcome Neil, this is certainly the right place for information, check out some of the posts in the chassis section. Good luck with your build, enjoy and don't forget to take pics.

Cheers Dave

Image to the playground Neil.

First, Tom's site is a great place to reference. Second, you can make a trailer to suit your aim. It will actually be better in the long haul.

Have fun, take lots of :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:  :designing: :hammer: :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:
