Howdy from Hondo

Howdy from Hondo :)

After viewing this site since last year, mainly looking at postings a friend of mind had for his Teardrop project, I've finally logged on and registered this weekend.

Although my wife and I had a fascination for the small trailers, we already had a 22 ft. TT, so such a project was not a priority item. Then we traded for a 34 footer to Full-Time over the next year. We have discovered that it is a bit of a hassle to simply take this larger unit down and take for a typical two-day weekend. Although we tent-camp also, there are times we'd really like to have a "hard-shell" tent, so to speak.

After some research the last several months for different ideas, we ran across someone locally who was selling his variation of a "Tiny Travel Trailer". Decided to buy it for now, tinker with it, and probably next year, I'd like to build something based on what we learn from this one. So, now we have our own "mobile crawl space"

I'll try to get some pics of it next time around. Not much to see, basically a simple 4x8 box, no particular amenities other than window and overhead vent.

Just noticed a posting about a gathering in New Braunfels, so my wife and I plan to make a day trip up the road and take a look...hope to meet some of you next week.

Welcome to the board! I totally understand wanting to have a smaller TT around so you can blast off for a weekend real easy. We originally wanted a TD so that we could pull it with our car, and get better MPGs.

I was planning on gate-crashing the NB gathering myself at some point next weekend. Here's a link to that thread:

I'll be PM'ing Big DE sometime soon to hammer out a good time to show up.

Hope to see you there!

You are right. It's a plain white box. But think of it more as a BLANK CANVAS. The ideas on this forum will make your head swim.

You have the advantage of being campable now, with the ability to make your white box anything you want.

Take a notepad and camera with you to NB.

New Braunfels Spot

Postby scotchale » Mon Aug 03, 2009 9:21 am

Thanks for the offer, at this time my wife and I will probably ride our motorcycles up there from Hondo, less than 100 miles, one day trip. We are not quite ready to take our mobile crawl space on the road yet, still needs lights put on the unit, and AC unit is still in it's box.

If someone else wants that spot, that will be fine...

Thanks,
Bryan

you're forgetting the removable chimney and smoke generator.
