Hello from Sunny England!

Postby Adz_4 » Mon Aug 10, 2009 6:48 am

Hi All,

Just thought I would introduce myself. I am Adam from the North East of England (UK).

I love going camping but the last 4 times I have been it has rained non-stop and because of this my girlfriend has now said that she will no longer go camping.... Cue the teardrop project :D!

I am building it from scratch (including the chassis) and you can view the progress here > http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=279113&id=508780246&l=a95d95f3ee

I'm sure I will have lots of questions along the way and there seams to be lots of knowledge on here.

Thanks,

Adam

Welcome!

I'll venture to say that for most chicks, teardropping would be more romantic than tenting. And definitely more comfortable.

Cool ...looks like your off to a great start!!! What size steel are your using? That rectangular shape, used flat isn't too common over here but has me thinking...

Hello and welcome from another UK builder. This site is a well of info for a new and not so new builder alike. Take lots of pics to keep the spirit level in check. Don`t hesitate to ask questions, somebody somewhere on here will know the answers.

Don`t forget to register on tearjerkers where you will find a UK chapter that is steadily growing in numbers.

It looks to me, 2" x 3" tubing. It would be stronger in the vertical position.

Thanks all for your welcome messages :). I am going to be using 10" wheels (hopefully a pair of Mini Alloys).

Thats the same size as what mine is going to be. Where did you get your wood from?? as I'm not too far away for York. What kind of wood did you use?

I used marine ply for the sides, floor and bulkhead. I bought it from a local wood yard. The pine batterns came in bundles from Wickes. I used a flexi ply to skin the roof, that had to be special ordered from a timber merchant.
