Greetings from Central Oregon

Hello all,
I'm new to the whole trailer scene all together. I enjoy tent camping very much but recently my wife and two year old daughter decided it wasn't quite their bag. We have a Subaru Outback and went shopping for a trailer towable by it only to find there isn't much available and nothing really in our price range. Enter this Forum. I think I'm planning on building a modified Widget because the wife is Claustrophobic. Well anyways, this seems like a very helpful group and very non-intimidating as forums go which is very nice to find. Thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure to find here.
Matt

Greetings from WA! Central OR is one of my fav spots; I'm a rockhound and likely have packed away a couple tons of your area over the years. Was out near Prineville and Glass Buttes in early July

Our first Teardrop was a 97 Cozy Crusier #4 around a 1000# and our tow vehicle was a 97 Subaru Outback. The only thing we added was trailer brakes. We now have CC #174 with a bunk so the 3yr old granduaghter can tagalong. Fun-Fun-Fun :)  tow vehicle now is a FJ Cruiser.

My husband thought he would have trouble in a tear also. He says there is so much head room he has no problem at all. Has your wife been in one? she might be surprised how roomy they really are.

She has a problem in a normal 4 person dome tent. We have a 10 person cabin tent now and that is about as small as she wants to go. I dont even think I could get her to climb into a tear. We also have a 50 lb dog that can get real unruley in a small space. I am getting closer to having the details of my build nailed down. I was calling on prices for a dexter #9 torsion axle this morning!
