Hello from West Michigan

Postby norway1987 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 12:20 am

Hello!!!,
My name is Ryan I am from Grand Rapids, MI. I have been looking into tear drop trailers for a few months and I think I am finally going to make a move on it and make one. I am a military police officer for the US Army so this will be interesting to see how I do on my building skills :( compared to my law enforcement skills. :D I will update this as soon as I get past the commander and chief (The Girlfriend) and also get her involved in helping me build this thing. :)

Welcome from Asheville!

Hey Ryan!

Welcome to the group from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western, NC!

When I started my camper build, I had no woodworking experience. I had no tools! With the help of the the friendly sales persons at Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Northern Tools, but especially with the help and guidance of the members of this group, I made significant progress on building a camper.

I would suggest attending the next local gathering of any teardrop group in your area, so you can see some of these in person and get some good build tips. Ask as many questions as you have to this group and you will get ample responses.

Keep us posted to your progress and post pictures (the folks in this group love pictures).

If you're on patrol, go full lights/siren and pull over any teardrop driver you see, so you can get a better look (just kidding on that one!).

Welcome!

Are you yet leaning toward a specific design?

Welcome to the forum!
Grand Rapids, huh? I'm a 1977 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School in GR. My parents and one brother are still there in GR so I drive over from the Detroit area every month or so.
Look forward to eventually seeing you at some gatherings in Michigan although don't forget about the Indiana and Ohio Tearjerkers chapters too. They also have great events and great people.
