Newbies from Norfolk

Two months ago, we didn't even know what a Teardrop Trailer was. That all changed in September, while on a 5 day backpacking "expedition" along the AT, we happened upon Hiker Chick, while passing through Big Meadows Campground in Shenandoah National Park. Through this random encounter, we were immediately drawn to this new mode of camping. She gave us a tour of her Little Guy, and we were sold!! Previously, we had been considering a larger travel trailer for when Jim retires in January, but once we saw the teardrop, we knew this was for us. We spent the next two days on the trail, talking about teardrops, and couldn't wait to get home to start our research on the internet. It didn't take us long to figure out that the Camp Inn 550 Ultra would suit us perfectly. Cary, from Camp Inn, hooked us up with a 550 owner, not too far from us, who graciously gave us a tour of theirs. Although my husband is a handy guy, and could probably build one for us, we decided to splurge, and go with the best! We wanted to enjoy it ASAP, so we placed our order immediately. Estimated date of completion is mid-December, and we are hoping that the Farmers Almanac forecast for a mild winter in Wisconsin is accurate, so we can pick it up as an early Christmas present! In the meantime, we have been researching all we can about how to outfit it. We are having fun shopping and gathering things for our teardrop. The way we see it, we are stimulating the economy!! We are like two little kids, we just can't wait until our first camp out in our camp inn!! It's name will be revealed when we pick it up!!

Welcome J&J, good luck with the pick up in December. Maybe we can hook up some day, right in the neighborhood.

Welcome aboard...you could not have made a better choice than a Camp-Inn(unless you built it yourselves)...I know you will enjoy this type of camping and hope that you try to hook up with a gathering and meet some of the other truly great people teardropping out there...gatherings are more fun than a barrel of monkeys(or kittens).........

It's sure a small world these days!

Welcome aboard.

I hope Camp Inn appreciates that a Little Guy assisted in the sale. And I hope we'll run into you all sometime.

 ;)

Welcome from Northern VA. We may run into you in the spring, as we'll be heading to the Valley with our 'drop in tow. She's being built at the moment, but will be ready to rock by camping season. :campfire:

Nice to see such enthusiastic newcomers. Welcome to the madness, we hope to see you on the road. Lydia and I have camped at Big Meadows and enjoyed that space..

Jim

And by the way, your avatar picture is too cool
I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.

That's the way to jump right in - those Camp Inns look great.

Hiker Chick should get some kind of finders fee from Camp Inn I would think

Wow,

More Virginians, and with a Camp-Inn no less. Hope to see you out at a gathering!

We ran into Hikerchick two summers ago in the SNP. Neat lady to be sure!

Thanks for all the welcomes T&TTTer's!!! We just received the first pictures of our Camp Inn build. Now we can actually "see" our dream becoming a reality. Here's hoping that about this time next month, we will be on our way to Necedah to pick up our teardrop....if only the weather cooperates! This will be exciting, especially for me, Jamie, as I have never been in a state (other than PA) that doesn't touch the Atlantic Ocean!!!
