New to Teardrops HELP!!!

Postby JedH » Thu Nov 19, 2009 8:40 pm

Hello all,

I live in West Central Florida, and my 7 year old has just joined cubscouts and has been bitten by the camping/outdoor bug.

There is a gentalman a few miles away selling a 1936-37 Mullins Teardrop?
anyone familiar or has photos. Structurally appears in pretty good shape. Mostly needs some TLC and Elbow grease, with some minor work needed in the rear kitchen portion. Is asking 800.00. Again new to this so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Jed

It looks Circa 'late 30's, but unsure if it is a real mullins..or does that even matter?

get underneath and check the frame for corrosion...

The prices seems very good if you don't have to do a complete rebuild..

I can tell from the portion of the hitch that is sticking out that there is some pitting and corrosion present, however it appears mostly superficial, can something like that be sanded/grounded down, and then re-protected? Also does anyone know where I might find a picture of a true Mullins? What strikes me from all the other pictures teardrops I've seen, the wheels are directly under the cabin, and not protruding from the sides.

*EDIT* I edited the second pic in this post because it was way too big and caused viewers to havvta scroll back and forth to view plus it drives the folks on dial-up crazy...I used www.tinypic.com ...a very handy web based program that will allow you to resize pics from other sites on the fly and then post the resized pics in your post...pleas try and keep pics in the 640x480 size...you can determine if a pic needs to be resized by right clicking on the pic and choosing "properties" which should give you the size of the original pic..........

More 36 and 37 Mullin's trailers

I am guessing that the tent option was simply draped over the open hard top to make a simple sleeping berth ??????
