Old decrepit guy

Postby StPatron » Sun Dec 20, 2009 12:46 am

Several years ago I stumbled onto this site via Steve Frederick's link on a stripper kayak building website. Can't thank you enough Steve. A teardrop trailer suits my future needs perfectly and I'm anxious to start making sawdust!

A bit about me and why I'm here,,,,

Since the early 70's, I've been camping either on a river raft, in a back-packing tent or in the back of my truck under a camper shell while exploring the canyon country of the 4-corners area or places closer. Well,,, those days are now just about over, at least the camper shell part. Crawling out over the tailgate is becoming more difficult and the risk of a broken hip or leg only increases with every birthday. :?

Pulling a light-weight, weather-proof camper with a galley is my idea of fun!

As of today, and this changes often, I'm looking at building the Generic Benroy with a few mods. I've been practicing my welding and am working on updating my electrical system so I can dedicate an area for the build. It could be awhile before you see build pics.

Well, enough about me. I'd like to thank many here, actually all of you. I've been reading your posts for years and the wealth of knowledge is almost overwhelming. All questions, from expert to novice, are all appreciated.

I participate in many online forums and this is one of the best, bar none. The software works great, the mods do what mods should do and it's always fun whenever I visit.

What more could you ask for?

Welcome to the forum, Patron. Building a teardrop trailer will change your life. Now, I must caution you, that every tenth Newbie must build a woody, and there have been nine others before you so...........

Naw, just kidding, build what ever you want and ask all the questions you need to to get'er going. How about some sketches on what you have in mind, perhaps a cardboard mock-up of your dream trailer? Once you get started, it won't be long before you can come and join us at one of the many gatherings we have throughout the US. Good luck on your build, take pictures and post em.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! If I'm able to become half the craftsman each of you are I'll be a happy guy. And, thanks for the laugh, Roly. Love your sense of humor. I remember studying your build pix long ago, a true work of art! I'd like to build a woody someday, maybe project #2 or 3,,,

Greetings from the Wet Coast. God willing; I want to be down there (Salt Plains) next year. Gotta have some of those Selenites!

Greetings from the heartland! Salt Plains was closed for a while but is now back open for digging. I don't anticipate more closures but you might want to check this site before making definite plans.
