Hi,
Im Ross im 31years old I live in a small rural community in Australia, I have been searching for a camper for the past to years but here in Australia canvas campers that fold from the side off a trailer are popular but it wasnt what I wanted.
One day on ebay I came across a teardrop by accident, after much searching and research I found a guy in Australia that made teardrops but found they were far to expensive for what I was willing to pay,
I then searched globally and found many teardrop company's in the USA.
I took a liking to "Little guy campers" after contacting them and asking do they import to Australia I was pleased to find out that a Guy in Australia was importing them for the Australian market.
I then contacted him and told him I thought a teardrop was for me I wanted-
* no wet canvas to deal with.
* no or minimal setting up.
* able to pull up and sleep straight away.
* able to prepare a meal without any setting up.
* Had minimal affect in my fuel economy.
* and had to be Aluminum.
I was told that a teardrop would be perfect, except that he was not importing and aluminum little guys, I must admit I was disappointed.
but if I had to sacrifice one thing I guess thats what it would be.
So after many phone calls backwards and forwards waiting on a shipment from overseas I got a phone call saying that He himself had a little guy custom made out of aluminum for display purposes to which I could purchase at a discount price.
It was setup up with 12v power and battery as well as mains power and many other added features, without hesitating I said I would take it.
Teardrops arnt popular in Aus like the USA but one day I hope that they are so that we may have a chapter on this site or maybe our very own down under. I wish that more young people in Aus were into camper trailers, I have met alot of people older than myself but never my age. maybe one day. I hope to gain much knowledge and enjoyment from this site. I will try and include a photo of my Little Guy Deluxe plus.
Cheers Ross.

Hi Ross and Welcome to the USA forum.
To clarify a couple of points you have made in your first post-

The popularity of TD's in Australia is growing all the time. There are currently nearly 700 members on the Australian Forum-http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/teardropcampers/
The Australian Forum holds a National Gathering each year. Next year it is at Coffs Harbour in NSW.
At this point in time there are members from every State and many new friendships have been formed since I joined about 5 years ago.
Sure the average age is "getting up there" but we do try to convince the Gen Xers and Yers to join in but, as a rule, unless it has a big screen and gamebox of some sort, most prefer to stay within the confines of the bright lights.
Congrats on purchasing the last Little Guy available in Australia, it will become a collectors piece over the next few years.
Click the link to the Aussie Forum above and join in the fun down here.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Ross, I want to welcome you to the forum also. Reading your post and the replies, really points out the importance of this board. Without you posting, you probably wouldn't have gotten the teardrop info from Paul as quickly as you did, or probably not at all. Good luck on your teardrop adventures, and if and when you decide to bring it to the US, for a trip of a lifetime, swing on by, I',m a bloke who always has the coffee on.

Hi Ross, and welcome from another Aussie that loves traveling around this great nation in a teardrop camper. :applause: :applause:
What part of the country are you from? You are right most of the campers you find here are the canvas variety, been there and done that!
When I am not camping, I am planning my next trip.
Enjoy your little guy, Who knows we may see you down the track somewhere

Cheers Dave
