Dreaming of Teardrops in Idaho

Finally joined today, although I've been reading posts for a little while. My parents bought and remodeled a '74 Airstream a couple years ago and I've been jealous of their freedom and travels since then. Since it is just me and my dog, the teardrop is the perfect fit for me. I've done lots of camping here in Idaho and Colorado. After so many years of sleeping in tents and rolling over rocks all night I'd love to travel in style! I've been trying to talk my dad into building one with me, but he is quite preoccupied with retirement and touring in the land yacht.
Today is Christmas and I received the T&TTT book, getting my hopes up even more! You all seem like such a great group of people, I'm glad to have all of your expertise at hand while I search for the perfect teardrop!

By the way, under my name it says "teardrop builder". I did not add that and certainly don't want to misrepresent myself, so if anyone knows how I change that please let me know!

The "Teardrop Builder" is automatic and changes with the number of post you make. Maybe the moderators should change the first level to "Teardrop Dreamer", then "Teardrop Build" after about 100 post. Even better would be if we could choose from a small list what appears there.

I think the have different titles for each forum user based on how many post you have. Tear drop builder is the entry level title....I wouldn't worry, people here have been really nice to me. I've been surfing around here for a couple of weeks now, lots of ideas.

I haven't seen any in the area!! They must really be hidden, or out traveling! I do have concerns with getting a trailer and having no where to store it. I live in a 100 year old home with no driveway and no garage, so it would have to be parked on the street and covered. Is there some sort of wheel lock to keep someone from hooking it up and driving off?

Remove the ballmount from the trailer's drawbar. (pretty sure I've got the terminology wrong, but the idea should translate)

Hello from the Apple Capital of the World. There is a good selection of builders in Northwest and even a couple in your state. We bought our's two years ago and have been having a bigger blast camping ever since.

See if you can find a friend with an off the street location. I cover mine with an old bed spread and two tarps, and it stays dry.

On the street that kind of cover might be not what the cops and neighbors would accept.
