Newbie from Pensacola

Postby Charlie -T » Sun Dec 27, 2009 8:08 pm

Hi, Charlie-T here from Pensacola. I have just purchased a Tear-Drop from a builder (because i am all thumbs) in Indiana, who builds for individuals, "homemade". His basic plan "1946 kit", and will add options to your specs. Mine is a 4X 8 , Black sides with Silver stripe, and Silver Top, Silver fenders, Black wheels and Baby Moons, as yet have not named it, but am working on it, any suggestions? Let me say at this point, i am not able to send pictures.SORRY! Hope to remedy that in the future. Anyway,i have been reading all the helpful information on this site and it was very instrumental in my decision to buy a tear-drop and what to put in it. Thanks, and look forward to corresponding and hopefully camping with many of you in the future. :D

Thanks Tony, appreciate the kind words. Really looking forward to first trip when weather turns. Question? Should i bring the battery in during cold weather ?

Thanks, will use trickle, and you would be surprised how cold it gets, but doesn't maintain the cold to long.

Hello, Charlie-T.

Welcome to T&TTT. You should be able to camp year-round in Pensacola. We do here in LA. I'd much rather camp in the winter month. It's never hot & muggy, and the 'skeeters ain't bad..LOL....

Enjoy the forum,

Mike

Hey Charlie,

We are originally from Tampa, FL and vacationed up here all the time. Finally moved up here in 2006. It is such a beautiful and genuinely nice place to live, its like living where you vacation...

There are so many great places to camp around here, you can't list them all. Bent Creek is nice, as well as the Pisgah Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There's also Davidson River, where they have a TD gathering in the Fall of every year.

In town, I've been told the Riverside campground is great. Geez, even the Walmart on Swannanoa Rd has its parking lot adjacent to a city park on the Swannanoa River - You can park overnight at riverside in the Walmart parking lot.

Let me know if you're ever in the area, we'll get together for a cup of coffee and talk teardrops and tiny campers.

I'm hoping to have my camper up and camp-able by Spring Season. Been working on it about 2 years, now.

Charlie

I'm a newbie in Pensacola also. Appears we are starting a trend! I'm still in the process of getting my TD set up. Why don't you PM me and we can maybe get together to compare notes.

Hi Cliff, at this point he does not have a web site but is working on it. He is fairly new at this but he did a great job on mine. Excellent communication skills from a distance. He has sold a few on E-Bay and really builds a nice Tear. I am extremely HAPPY with mine. P.S. he has a phone # if interested.
