Newbie from Texas (D/FW)-Needs HELP,Please!

Hello all,

You each have what appears to be a unique trailer. Yhey are all beautiful in their own way.

I have a 5'x8' utility triler that tilts(of course I will fix that) and am wanting to convert it to a Teardrop to match my 97' Jeep Wrangler (white). I would like to know if there are any 'plans' out there to accomodate this task. I have searched the web & found none.

Do I just start from scratch? I would like one with a kitchen in rear, a place for window unit and skylight. (of course any extras as: original jeep wheels, flares, etc.)

Thanks,
Gregg White

At the top of the page is also a link to "Generic Benroy Plans". It construction directions and would be a good place to start. I am still working on a set of plans for mine and have used this and the design library for ideas. Good luck!

Welcome from Asheville!

The Generic Benroy Plans at the top of the page are a good place to start for step-by-step instructions, the Design Library, also at the top of the page, is great for its drawings of several different potential campers.

I would also check-out Mike S. Weekender Plans, available here: http://www.mikenchell.com/weekender/

I am building a modified version of the Weekender...

And welcome to the T&TTT group!

still have a question, please

Postby aprazr56 » Fri Jan 01, 2010 1:04 pm

Still need to know if I can use my 5x8 utility trailer and if so, how do I move the axles/springs/etc.? It is a Heavy Duty (3,200 lb rating)

I just went out & looked at it again & it has side rails (which will need to be removed) and the tires are directly in the center of gravity for this type trailer.(which will need to be moved backwards or lengthen the tongue)

Any suggestions as to 'how' to move the axle/wheels? I have read all the drawings & 'how to's' as well as plans but find nothing about the axles/wheels.

Thank again for your replies,

Gregg

Gregg,

Posting a photo of your trailer would help us, help you.

There is a post on converting a utility trailer to a TD. If I run across it, I'll post the link.

To re-position the axle, you'll have to cut the spring hangers and re-weld them it the appropriate location(where ever that may be).

Link to Trailer Balance Spreadsheet

Gregg, you'll have to upload to your album. Make sure you re-size your photos to 640 X 480.

Help with photos

To get to your album, Click here, then click on "Your Personal Gallery" at the bottom of the category list.

If you're running Windows XP, Click here for a free Image Re-sizer. You'll find it on the right column of the page, a little over half way down.

Mike,

I think I finally figured it out that any member can 'click' on 'my album' to see the photo. Right? Please let me know if otherwise.

Thanks ever so much,

Yes, any member can access you photos.

Once up-loaded, your photo will have a web(url) address. Insert the web address into your post, along with the image CODES at the beginning and end of the web address.

Image

BTW, Please edit the post where you tried to place the image. It's too big and takes up too much room.

Now that I can view your trailer, we can give you help.
