New from Arkansas

Postby Lookfar » Mon Feb 01, 2010 6:50 am

Good Morning;
You can chalk up another victim of "RV Crazy", thankfully. Have my cabin built and moved in, so it is time for another project. I've still plenty to do finishing the inside of the cabin, but that will be the simple stuff (painting, etc.).
After retiring (impulsively) last year I looked at RV's, and even saw some Tears, though they didn't impress me at the time. Then I watched the segment on RV Crazy a week or so ago, found this forum and have pretty much quit doing anything else.
I'm planning on a 10x5 tear. As soon as some more snow melts I'm shopping for a trailer. Since we just cleared the land for the cabin, there is going to be a lot of mud for a few days.
Look forward to spending even more time on the forum.

Welcome to the madness Butch

Keep reading ask questions frequently and take lots of pictures of your progress.

We are quickly approaching the season for the early gatherings so watch for those that may be in your area, nothing like a weekend with a group of teardrops even if yours may be softsided ie; Tent.

You may also want to check-out the TearJerkers, link above, in the header. Where T&TTT is primarily a builders site, TearJerkers is a camping site, compliment one another quite well.

Again welcome, in my case, from So Cal.

Hello and welcome from Little Rock.

I didn't build mine due to lack of skills, but I do love my teardrop.

Hey there from Branson, Missouri. You will so enjoy running with all us crazy people who apparently need closeness. Those of us who camp in these little rigs are the envy of every RV Park we gather in or stop by.
We've gone as long as 16 days only staying in motel two nights because the smell was getting too bold for either of us or the dog. Welcome and join the gatherings in any of the areas....We all are very welcoming. Queenie Jeanne

Welcome Butch! :applause: :applause:

In which area of Arkansas do you live? I am a former Hot Springs resident and loved my time there.

Look forward to seeing you at a gathering in the near future,
Tom

Thanks for the welcomes. Actually I've just moved to Arkansas (6 months ago) after spending the past 15 years in Florida. Sort of out of practice with actual winters. Though I've lived in a number of states and actually lived here about 20 years ago.
Now I'm in Pleasant Plains, which is between Bald Knob and Batesville. I am looking forward to getting busy on my tear and seeing some "in person".

Given the choice between Bald Knob and Branson, I believe I would prefer the Branson area, even with all of the people. Used to visit there fairly often, and it is a beautiful place to be.
You are right Larry, I got 7-8" of nice looking snow. I don't really mind, as I made sure I have all my basic needs covered. The only down side is that I'll have to deal with a bit of mud once everything melts. Wouldn't be a bad time for a 4 WD, but at least my brother has one.

Butch
You will be happy with the 5 X 10 layout. Gives you room for a large bed for two people to sleep in comfort. Have you decided on a profile yet? I got my trailer built at Beebe trailer Mfg. I had him build it without side rails, no ramp, and no wooden floor. It is very heavy duty. I went with the stronger frame as I was not sure I had the skill or patience to actually get the TD built. My thoughts were if I could not finish the TD I would at least have a sturdy utility trailer.
I bought my trailer in October of 2006 and at the time his prices were by far the best. I finished in May of 2007 and Macy and I have pulled our TD over 15000 miles.
PM me if you need any info. I also have some pretty good plans for the TD I built. I unfortunately did not find this wonderful forum until I was about 80% finished with my TD.

Hi Butch, and a hardy welcome from the mountains to the sea, from here in sunny, (most of the time) So Calif. (just got back from a run into the mountains, but had to turn around because when the snow got 2 ft deep, they required tire chains to continue.....)
