Hello everyone: I don't know where I found out about Teardrop Trailers, but I am now building my first one. I built a couple of utility trailers in the last two years. I wanted to see if I could find a 15-20 foot travel trailer that needed some fixing up to keep the price low. I came across a thing called a teardrop trailer. It was used & more than I could afford. I liked the idea of it, so I went on Ebay and searched for them there. I found a bunch of them and also many parts and even plans to build my own. I then searched for plans in my search engine. I found the Kuffel Creek plans and I bought them on a CD. It came with plans for the 8' Cubby & the 10' Comet. I chose to build the Cubby. I am a ASE Certified Master Auto Technician, so here we go. I came across the T&TTT forum a couple of weeks ago. I had started to build my Cubby in October '09. I hit the mother load when I found this site. I have been reading, and reading, and reading. This website is great. I joined yesterday. I see everyone here is very nice and helpful to the posters. There is a lot of high quality builds posted and the ones that are in progress, ie: Doug's Nomad. I hope mine turns out 50% as nice as Doug's is. I have got my Harbor Freight 1820# frame assembled and modified. I upgraded the axle to a wider one I got from Southwest Wheel ($122 including shipping) to use 14" wheels. It is an Al-Ko with the larger 1 1/16" bearings. I wanted bigger wheels on it. 12", yucky, 14", good. I have the deck/floor built including flooring and ready to bolt down. I may need to ask for help for ideas to attach it to the HF frame. I will ask for your experienced advice as I go forward with the build. I have been taking pics. Give me time to learn how to upload them. I have the sides cut out and the door openings cut, too. I have deviated from the plans a little bit here and there, but it will make it better for me to use. I will shut up now so I don't get booted from here. Everyone, have a good one! Johnny D.
