New in town

Postby Phestus » Thu Feb 18, 2010 11:41 pm

Hello Everyone,

It is a pleasure to be a part of this forum. My wife and I are retired since '94 and have enjoyed traveling in a variety of modes. Now, we have taken a dog into our family and have given up on planes, trains, and ships. Nothing but the rubber on the road now. You know, it is a lot simpilier(sic) too. Lately I have been wearing out the internet looking at trailers and motorhomes. Well, guess what, yesterday I bought a brand new, never been registered or licensed, 2007 Little Guy. Still has full factory warranty. I got the 6 wide. Talk about happy. Now going over it with a fine toothed comb to be sure everything is as it should be. We live in Colorado, so we have to wait for the weather to improve, but it won't be long. I plan to go back and read all the prior postings concerning the LG. I will be looking to find postings about what people have done to modify and personalize their LG. I am just getting started, so you may see some questions from me in the future. Also, I will gladly welcome any information, comments, and/or suggestions anyone is willing to share. Also guidance to any other sites where I may gather information and better educate myself on teardrop camping. Many thanks for allowing me to be a part of the forum.

Best Regards,

Phestus

Welcome to the forum Phestus. :applause:

Yes, you have come to the right place with your new 6-wide Little Guy. There are lots of LG owners on the forum that can help you, as well as, thousands of others that speak the universal language of teardrops. And even though LG is mass produced, you will have a lot of fun making it your own unique teardrop with the many different things you can do with it.

Just take lots of :pictures:

From another happy LG 6-wide owner since 06.

Caught the bug!!!!!!!!!!

Postby Ward » Fri Feb 19, 2010 2:27 am

Hello all, I read alot of the post here before joining and am sure I will fit in. A couple of days ago I was looking on ebay and a little trailer all made of wood caught my eye. The little thing intrigued me so much that I started researching it. Since then ( a little over a week ago) I have made a rough sketch of the outside and the galley, found a trailer (an old camper) ARISTOCRAT I think. I hauled it over 800 miles from our family farm in TN to my new place in TX. I tore everything off except the floor, aired up the tires, bolted on some lights and took off!

My plan was, if I had any trouble I would just leave it!!!! Anyway the trailer measures 7x12 now that is a little big for a teardrop but I plan on modifying the frame a bit :D. Now I have alot of plans in my head that I need to get onto paper. One major thing that I want to incorporate is the ability haul my Harley, not inside but crossways either on the front or rear, it weighs about 650 lbs.

I look forward to any and all suggestions and comments and also I am a maintenance contractor and have aquired alot of knowledge in my short 29 years (I'm an 80 model) So I look forward to helping out here anyway that I can.

WHOW BO !

7 x 12 and a bike to tote you need to look around a bit. There are a couple post on here that have combined a bike toter with their camping trailer. The idea is a center isle and the bike just rolls in and rides dead center of the trailer in transit and when rolled out you have a camper. They are generally a bit taller than the tiny teardrops but they can be just as cute.

So relax and look around a bit ask a few questions and you will be so damn confused in a week you won't know what you are building.

The big thing is to have fun.

P.S. Welcome to the insanity !

New in town...

Postby Phestus » Sat Feb 20, 2010 1:14 am

Paul, Scott, and Hiker Chick,

Thanks for the nice welcome. I have been doing some extensive reading of prior posts and I know this forum is just what I need to help me get my LG setup the way I want it. Already have some good ideas for the electrical. Now I have to start gathering info on putting up a shelf or two inside, and making a few changes in the galley. I know this is going to be a fun summer.
Hopefully I will meet some of you nice people somewhere down the road.
