Hello all,
i am planning a build based on the lines of www.thesquidget.com i like the profile of that camper.

he built his way too heavy for my needs though.

I am planning on taking FRP and foil foam board and luan and epoxying it together to make panels that provide my structural support and sheer strength.

it will be super light weight and not need to be painted. just pressure wash any dirt on the outside. and i can finish out the luan on the inside stained or painted.

anyone here ever try making laminated building panels like this?

Hi Grid Runner, welcome to the forum.

Your idea for the wall construction is interesting, but will it hold up?

How will you anchor walls to the floor?

How will you anchor roof to walls?

Not trying to talk you out of it, just thinking about the pros and cons.

I'd say go for it. YOu could use marine epoxy and wood dust to do a fillet on the inside of the roof and wall joint. or anneal and bend aluminum angle to make a support joint. or just do a glued up laminate curve wood at the top and bottom of the panel. I once did and experiment with latex contact cement by gluing luan to a 1" foam board and left it wood side down in a rain barrel it took 2 months for the luan to fall apart the contact cement never came loose but I could pull it apart easier after the plywood fell apart.

GAry

Ps welcome to the forum and keep thinking out side the box.

im going to make the parimeter with wood for something solid to screw into.

and any mounting points in the walls i will route out a channel and epoxy strip of wood into before epoxying the luan over it.

the roof im going to build scaffold on the floor of my shop and lay the luan over it and score the foil foam board to lay over it with the curves. then epoxy them together. and then epoxy the frp over that and let it dry.

any luck and i should have a nice insulated one piece roof.

for the outside corner trim. i've seen people use aluminum and plastics.
was at home depot today and seen lexan corner guard said shatter proof and tear proof on the lable. i wonder how that'd work...
