Jake from Calif

Postby jake62 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 11:37 pm

My name is Jake and I am a current Teardrop owner.
(Currently on the auction block)
I am purchasing a 6X10 cargo trailer this week to begin a conversion. I am disabled and it is too hard to get in and out of the TD. I also want more room for gear on longer trips. I will start simple (electrical and a bed with some storage and a sink.)

I have many questions for some of you veterans but I will lurk for awhile and ask on the pertinent forums.

Here's a pic of the current beast

Welcome from Northern Calli.
Wish you well you your build and look forward to seeing it progress. There is alot of experienced builders here that have done or are in process of doing the same type of conversion you are about to take on.
Now I have not ever seen that Beast before, what is it?

Not sure what to ask for it. Just looking to offset the cost of the new trailer.

You should pass that pod for sale around the www.fiberglassrv.com forum sections. Someone may want it as collector item. Let us know what your decision on asking price will be.

Hi Jake welcome to the forum from Snowy Scotland. I can see that your current trailer would cause access difficulties with the door configuration. It is a charming design though.

Looks like John DeLorean and Darth Vader got together and built a trailer. ;)
Kind Regards, BigAl.

Jake,

I just saw one of these on Ebay, with a buy it now price of $3450. The unit listed appeared to be in mint condition and garage stored.
Can't judge how yours would stack up but it gives you a ballpark idea I hope.

I was interested in the history of these brand, yours appears to have some manufacturer sticker on it, would you share any details you have on it?

Hello Jake,

Nice American Teardrop. They are fun little rigs. I seen the pods on a fairly regular basis as they where built in the area. You should be able to offset the trailer price pretty easy with the sale. Hope to see you around.

BC the one on ebay has a picture of yours! Presumably as an example of what can be done.
