The Dreaded Gaucho Build

Postby deanclan5 » Tue May 04, 2010 5:47 pm

I'm really needing some detailed plans on building a gaucho bed. I have a 1964 or 1967 Playmor travel trailer. There is some debate about the year on the title. Anyway, I bought this about a year ago and it looked pretty good (I'm no expert). I thought it would just be cosmetic changes. Anyway, after taking some things apart there was significant water damage. We have now repaired that and starting to put everything back together. I need this completed soon, so we can take our down syndrome daughter camping with us. She does not handle tent camping very well. Okay, to get to the point. We want to build a new gaucho and need some detailed plans. Anyone know where to get some? Thanks so much.

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Lets see what else is out there?!

OK, search for "jack-knife sofa" I know they aren't detailed plans, BUT might give you some ideas:

Thanks for all the info. I think it will be a very good start. Think I will draw some detailed plans and post after we have completed ours. They are very hard to find out there. My brother is beginning to make custom teardrops, but hasn't made one of those yet. I hope to tackle my own teardrop someday, but with a special needs child it is dificult to even get this one going. Thanks again!
