Hi, my name is Rosalind. I have lived in Alabama for the past 13 years, moved here from Los Angeles, grew up in Detroit, MI.
Recently I have become obsessed with tiny/small houses and plan on having one built and going off the grid (as much as possible) next year. I met the owner of a teardrop trailer during a camping trip to Yosemite last month and a lightbulb went off -- tiny house person should have a tiny camping trailer too! The owner was kind enough to share his love and information about the tiny tailer community and referred me to the internet(s!) for more investigating and info.

Hi Rosalind,

Welcome to the T&TTT group. There are threads here for some people who have lived in a TD/tiny camper for extended periods of time. I have also run across info about tiny houses, and have found that some of them are built on wheels to easily transportable. The two interests, I think, would be very complementary. There is a lot of good info here, and some great folks, too. Welcome!

Rosalind, I would love to also live off the grid. I just can't figure out how to stuff 4 of us into a tiny house, lol. My hubby and I both work at home. Anyway, teardrops are loads of fun!

Welcome to the fun!

What part of Alabama do you call home?

I am the Alabama chapter director for TearJerkers. We have a gathering planned at Lake Guntersville State Park the weekend of May 21st and would love to have you come, bring a tent or an RV and join us.

Email me if you need more information.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Really cool to find the tiny/small movement going on with campers. Especially with gas prices!!

Willik, I live near Georgiana, Alabama, home of Hank Williams.I love it here! It's like living in a state national park. I have camped at Guntersville and would love to go back but I'm in New Orleans that weekend for a wedding. Maybe next time, but thanks for the invite!

Greetings from the Wet Coast!

By all means try to make the gathering. I went to the Dam Gathering 2 weeks ago and it was truly and education. Take notes; take pix. You are gonna find the friendliest, most helpful, and sharing group of folks on the planet.

I lived in Montgomery for 15 years and have been to Georgiana many times. I hate that you have a conflict that weekend, but go ahead and put the weekend of July 16-18 on your calendar, call and book a site at Cloudland Canyon State Park in GA. (It is 30 miles from Ft. Payne, AL). We are having a 4 state gathering... already got 20 tears planning on coming. It will be a blast.
