Hello from NW Ontario

Postby Brian L » Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:55 pm

Hi from near Thunder Bay,. Brian and Marla. With minimal research we are now the owners of a Little Guy Rascal. We will be towing with a Jetta TDI. One small trip under our belt but a month long one coming up! We own a travel trailer as well but the TD is to replace tent camping for our travels. We will reserve the TT for trips where we intend to stay for longer than a few days. I've started a blog for our travels (will have to see how long that lasts  )

Welcome!!

I am the owner of a reverse TD by Little Guy. I love it! My tow vehicle is a Rav4. You're going to be on the road with your LG for a month?! Wow! I'm looking forward to your reports.

I had a time registering my tear in Maryland. The DMV couldn't decide whether I needed a tag, then if I needed an inspection (what do you inspect?). After 3 hours, I finally got a tag, no inspection either. I think 3 levels of supervisors were consulted. Never a dull moment.

Glad you are legal and ready to roll!

Hugs,
Ratkity

We are looking forward to our trip. It won't be a month continuous in the LG - we have a couple of short stops with family and friends over the month so it will be more like 20 days or so.
Hopefully we can get Internet while enroute so we can attempt to keep the blog updated. When we were researching we enjoyed reading other peoples travel experiences. It is not the easiest task finding teardrop information.

We bought the Rascal in Iowa and they do plate them there - class as a utility trailer. In Ontario we needed a plate but it was $10 for a lifetime plate.

Imagine what fun I had in DC. They required that I drive it in from storage (100 miles from here, Virginia), put me in the buses and commercial vehicles line (so it wouldn't scrape the ceiling, I guess).

I'd asked them before bringing the teardrop in what the H they needed to inspect it for. Answer: rust and turn signals.

It had been built 3 weeks prior (Little Guy).

Monumental PITA. Fortunately, the city has now scrapped safety inspections (emissions only).
