My family and I are avid campers who tent camp about 3 times per month during the summer and fall. We have owned a RV as well as a popup camper and but we enjoy tent camping the best. I was going to buy a cargo trailer and mod it to handle our gear. However, I have decided to build a teardrop instead.
I plan on building a woody with an aluminum roof. I have in my mind the style I want and how I want it to look. I have purchased a Northern Tools 5 X 8 trailer that was on sale so I guess you can say I have officially took the plunge.
My build is going to be a bit different than the typical teardrop. I wont be using mine to sleep in. It will be for hauling my gear and for the galley. I plan on making it look just like a tear on the outside but the interior will be more for my gear. With a family of 4, we have accumilated about every camping gadget known to man. We luxury camp with just about everything but electricity. We also dont use a generator.
We are headed to Yellowstone in July of 2011 and I intend to have it built and most of the bugs worked out by then. The trip to Yellowstone will be a 4000 mile round trip so I am hoping to have a few camps under my belt with my new tear.
Anyway, my journey has begun and I look forward to talking to all those that makes this forum so valuable to newbes like me. I have been a general contrator for over 30 years so I have lots of tools in my workshop and I even know how to use most of them.
