Howdy all,
I made a post previously with a roof spar question but decided I'd make a post with a little more info on us and then ask a new question.
My wife and I are in our mid 20s, both born around Houston area, and we currently have two big black labs that we treat as children.
I'm a mechanical engineer/project manager in the oil industry and she is finishing her degree in education with the intention of teaching 3rd grade (still not sure how she picked that age).
Our tow vehicles will be a Honda Element and Honda Odyssey.
Now... On the the problem. While going through some things today I was noticing how a few of my dimensions weren't matching up to the plans I have (Kuffel Creak). I have now figured out that in my haste I managed to build the base of the trailer 48" wide instead of 47-1/4". As a result my sides are protruding from the frame. I did compensate on the galley bulkeads (they are 48" also).
My major question is... how much is this going to screw me on skinning the body (48-3/4" wide aluminum is unlikely) and making the hatch fit? Should I stop now, break all the glue and screws loose, and trim the base down? I'm on vacation for the next two weeks with the intention of making some good progress on the teardrop, but this puts a fairly large wrench in that plan. On the bright side there are 1 or 2 things that didn't come out as good as I planned and tearing it apart will give me a chance to fix those.
Thanks,
Noah.
