NEW one

Postby aqclean » Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:24 pm

Hi all
Been lurking for a while,
some very interesting reads(electrical) converter takes battery power and turns it into house powre/ inverter the opposite/shore power electical connection to power trailer.Windows that was a learning curve also.
I now have a clue of some of the lingo.

I'm thinking of cargo conversion. (motorcycle/sleeper) My first question is If the trailer exterior is screwed can I pull the rusty screws out (no not all at once) and replace them or will that create more problems. Also anyone paint the exterior their self/ ie roller.
I repainted my aluminum shed a few years back with brush and roller came out great. Just curious.

My build time will not be till fall or winter. unless I stumble on a trailer priced to steal.
Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard Dave. I removed all of the rusty screws from my Kenskill Standy and replaced them with new ones. No problem. Also, many of us paint aluminum trailers with a brush. Give it a shot, but prep the surface first with light sanding and a good wipe down with a cleaner. For a better finish, use a spray gun.

Thanks for the welcome, and reply

I'll be reading taking it all in. I know I want a v-nose with ramp door.I'm thinking new.It would be great if I could get one not walled inside. (I will be putting power in but I haven't decided on my needs and then some)
I'm thinking maybe 10 ft not counting the v-nose. Place to sleep and haul a motorcycle. I don't for see me camping in winter. I know I want 4 windows, roof top vent over sleeping area, screens for both doors, back ramp door also doubling as a small patio. I haven't actually talked to a dealer yet, but I have noticed prices are dropping for the 2011 modles comming in. I still don't which brand I want either,I got more reading to do. Alot of craiglist window shopping, I saw one a 2004 Haulmark 300.00 RI craigskist yesterday (carg trailer) I did not check it out for 2 reasons barn doors, and I figure at that price the frame or something major is tweeked.Price is to good to be true.Any way thanks for the welcome.I'll be reading and learning and looking at everyones build ideas.
great site
