My Chell

Postby MyChell » Sun Aug 21, 2011 4:11 pm

Hello to everyone here! I have been lurking and reading for hours on end, learning more than my brain can seem to hold from you all. Thanks so much for all that I have already learned from the folks on this amazing forum!

I would also like to introduce my teardrop aka My Chell (My friend said it looked like a snail, my name is Michelle, hence the name).

That's a Gander Mountain Canopy, by the way. I plan on writing a post about its awesomeness ASAP!

I am by no means the builder, I purchased it this past March from Craig's List from another, builder unknown. At that time, I knew next to nothing about teardtrops - now I think there is too much floating around in my head for my own good....

Many of you here (and probably half my family as well) will think I am nuts when I tell you I have been sleeping in My Chell since the Fourth of July. I had decided before finding this teardrop, that it was time to clean out my life, mentally and physically, time for something drastic. I decided that I wanted something small enough to tow behind my Ford Escape, that I could live in. Eliminate the rent bill, get rid of a bunch of junk, and be mobile.

I started cleaning out the house in April, it was the beginning of August before I was through. I sold some things, traded others for good will, & simply gave away the rest. For the 1st month or so that I was living in the teardrop, I was parked outside my rental house. I am now at my Momma's, working on some things I hope to have your help in figuring out. What is my plan? where am I going? What am I going to do with myself exactly? It is unknown at this point...

That being said, here are a few pics of My Chell, more are in my album, many more coming soon!

I will be posting more pictures in the next couple of days. Things I want to change: I want some hatch props that are more secure, my doors need work, I have some ideas for building in the xbox, I have a new climate right (petcool) ac, and suredly some more stuff mucking around in my head as well. I look very forward to getting to know you!!!

<3 & Hugs, Michelle

PS Where are my clothes and stuff?

Welcome Michelle from over in Jefferson way. I had seen your "Chell" on CL numerous times and if I'm not wrong the builder is a gentleman over in Gainesville, GA. I know the first time I saw it on CL that was the seller and atleast once a year I see a new one come up from him. Your not nuts, your just a teardropper on an extender trip thru life! I would enjoy that but the wife and I cooped up that much in same lil area ..... :? we would be . Welcome to the madness!

Welcome, Michelle.

My friend, Alison, has a great blog about living in a teardrop and tent for extended periods. Check it out at: http://alisontravelsblog.blogspot.com/

welcome aboard, looks like you have a big adventure ahead of
There is a world, just beyond now,
where reality runs a razor thin seam between fact and possibility;

Anywhere I roam where I lay my head is home....

I haven't named the bear yet, he is a brand new teddy as well, saved to begin this adventure with me. Perhaps you all can choose the name of the bear... :)

wow! I like your Chell!!! You have it really well outfitted!!! Looks nice and cozy...and sturdy!!

And that canopy is fantastic!

My big Aristocrat Starliner (18.5 ft) is called The Shell due to the fact that it's a big, slow rig (Aristocrats are dang heavy, solid trailers) not unlike a snail. And I like snails!

If I get the smaller rig I have my eyes on, It will get a similar name. Can't wait to join you on the road someday!!

Happy trails and welcome to the madness!
