Wanna be teardropper from North Texas

Postby RebeccaH » Fri Sep 02, 2011 9:52 pm

Hi there! My name is Rebecca and I live in the great state of Texas. My little family really liked to camp a lot (once upon a time) but once our third child was born and Mother in law moved in it got harder and harder to do. We've recently tried a couple trips and let me tell you that sticking 6 people in a van with all the *stuff* you need for camping ain't easy! We've been saving up for a small RV but I'm thinking a teardrop might just do the trick.

I really like the idea of the galley kitchen. For me, having a camp kitchen as easy to set up as lifting a hatch sounds marvelous. We could load the interior of the TD with our tents, air mattresses and chairs. I'm so excited about the possiblities! Getting ready for a camping trip and coming back from one would be a whole lot easier too, just have to restock and make note of items that might need repair/cleaning.

I also am originally from Florida, and we don't go home much because it's so expensive to travel (hotel, gas, eating out). We don't camp along the way either because it's a hassle to pack everything we need, plus six people for a two week trip in a mini-van.

My husband and I talked about it, and we are going to build one. We'll still need our tents, but this will help up haul all our stuff, give us a convenient place to cook and at least give comfortable nights sleep to two family members:-)

I'll poke my nose around for tips, and I'll pipe up with questions. We really don't need a fancy one, so it shouldn't be too hard for me. I'll see ya'll around.

Welcome Rebecca. There are a lot of tear droppers in the metroplex. In fact there is a gathering at Loyd Park next weekend. If you have time, would be a great place to see a few different tears.

Good luck in your design and build.

Welcome Rebecca and what Loader said, come on by for a visit.

There will also be a few of us at Lake Ray Roberts State Park in Dec. just north of you. Don't know the date yet but will probably be the second weekend in Dec.

Good luck with your plans.
